In April 2020, on a business trip and sightseeing in Baoding, Hebei, I accidentally discovered this four-star hotel near Baoding East Station and Hebei University—and it was full of pleasant surprises!
Since I had to work in the morning, I booked an early high-speed train. When I arrived at the hotel, the moment I entered the lobby, a bookish fragrance filled the air—I absolutely loved this lobby! Seeing us with luggage, a friendly receptionist immediately came over to help and handed us a cup of warm water. Although it wasn't check-in time yet, she let us check in early. So grateful!
I had booked a movie-themed room with a projector, so I could relax after work.
As soon as I entered the room, I saw a landscape painting above the bed—I loved it!
Right after I admired the room, a sweetly smiling staff member brought me some fruit.
When I returned late at night, the receptionist made a special effort to ask if I was hungry and sent snacks and a late-night supper. It felt so heartwarming! So I kicked back in enjoyment mode, snacking while watching a movie—after all, you can't mistreat yourself after a day's work.
The shower had strong water pressure, the toiletries were great, and the bed was super comfortable—soft and fragrant. The night was quiet, and I slept wonderfully!
Here's the painting in my colleague's room—also very nice.
The restaurant is named 'Xiangzhao' (Invitation), offering breakfast and business set meals. The breakfast variety was truly impressive—fried eggs, boiled eggs, all kinds of bread and pastries, Chinese stir-fried dishes, cold salads, fresh salads, fruit, noodles, wontons, steamed buns, fried dough sticks, coffee, milk... everything I could think of was there.
During my downtime, I wandered around and found that the hotel's laundry room and book bar also had very pleasant names.
The book bar is called 'Zhuju' (Bamboo Dwelling), where you can watch videos, read books, and there are two Apple computers.
The laundry room is named 'Chuchen' (Transcend Dust), and the rows of drum washing machines felt like guards standing watch.
There's also a gym and a meeting room.
After work, you can take some time to enjoy the scenery near the hotel, breathe fresh air, and relax.
Baiyangdian Lake: in summer, it's covered with lotus flowers! It's about a 1-hour drive from the hotel.
Langya Mountain—yes, the very one from the textbook story of the Five Heroes of Langya Mountain. It's about a 1.5-hour drive.
Ranzhuang Tunnel Warfare Site: around a 1-hour drive.
Oh, I almost forgot the most important thing: the hotel is very close to Baoding East Station, and if you book in advance, they can provide pickup and drop-off.
They also have their own parking lot, which is very convenient and free of charge.
The shuttle car is branded 'Yaduo' (Atour). It used to be part of the Atour chain but has been renamed Lejia Boutique Hotel (Baoding East Station Hebei University Branch).
The hotel's decor and facilities are fantastic, feeling tailor-made for business travelers and students.
What surprised me most was the service—it was incredibly heartwarming. It's a bit hard to describe, but it felt like the service at Haidilao (the famous hotpot chain known for excellent service). I hope you get a chance to experience it; it's truly great.
The price is also very reasonable—for a hotel of four-star quality, it's a real bargain!
