When National Day Meets Mid-Autumn Festival: A Unique Festive Flavor in Yandu Ancient City
The holiday passed so quickly, and before we knew it, it's almost at its end. Where did you all go these past few days, and what are your plans for the remaining vacation?
During the National Day holiday, Yandu Ancient City's profound cultural heritage, vibrant scenic area activities, an array of tourist souvenirs, and a night market brimming with lively local flavor attracted numerous visitors. They savored the city's food, drink, fun, and entertainment, creating unforgettable memories here.
On October 1st, the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival coincided with the birthday of the new China. On this doubly joyful day, to promote traditional Chinese culture, Yandu Ancient City hosted a grand moon worship ceremony.
With splendid costumes, wonderful dances, and sonorous recitations, the moon worship performance combined ritual significance with entertainment, allowing the audience to deeply feel the charm of traditional Chinese culture.
On grand festivals, King Zhao of Yan would parade with his consort; whenever distinguished guests arrived, graceful welcome dances were presented. Here, classical costumes perfectly complemented the antique-style architecture, and tourists' smiles harmonized best with the festive atmosphere.
Performances at the Zhongxiao Stage
During the National Day holiday, the Zhongxiao Stage featured Hebei Bangzi (a type of opera) performances and modern song and dance shows, truly a blend of classical and modern, a coexistence of tradition and fashion.
The performers on stage were spectacular, and the audience below was utterly captivated. Many people took out their phones to snap photos and record videos, and at every brilliant moment, enthusiastic applause erupted.
Beneath the towering Babai Tower, a group of elderly artists in ancient costumes, all from Yanzi Village, Gaomo Township, Yi County—the birthplace of Prince Dan of Yan—brought one classical and solemn ancient music performance after another to visitors during the National Day holiday.
Yanzi Ancient Music is an intangible cultural heritage project of Hebei Province with a profound history and extremely rich cultural connotations. It represents and inherits the ancient Yan civilization. Like a family heirloom, it speaks to people of bygone history and times with its irreplaceable value.
Night markets are a key representation of local cultural life. If you want to experience the customs and lifestyle of a place, be sure to visit its night market.
After more than a year of development, the night market in Yandu Ancient City has taken shape. The main activity in the night market is strolling around; the goods sold here are truly diverse and dazzling. And the street food is a particularly attractive part of the night market.
Here, vendors prepare all kinds of local snacks right on the spot. Watching the ingredients skillfully turn into delicious dishes in their hands, and smelling the aromas wafting through the area, even the wait becomes a pleasure.
