Not just long johns and autumn drowsiness

As the temperature gradually drops

The best season for red leaf viewing is just around the corner

We've collected some stunning red leaf viewing spots in and around Baoding

"Mountains ablaze with red, forests dyed in layers of color"

Baishi Mountain towers at the northernmost tip of the 800-li Taihang Range. It is a world geopark, a national 5A-level tourist attraction, and a national forest park, famous for its unique marble peak forest landscape. Baishi Mountain Town's Baishi Mountain Forest Farm sits at the northern end of the Taihang Range, with a scenic area of 54 square kilometers and the highest peak, Yundu Peak, at 2,096 meters above sea level. Vast red birch forests thriving between 1,500 and 2,000 meters feature deep red trunks and lush green canopies, like a beauty rising from a bath—truly a sight to behold. Visiting now, the mountainside is covered in clusters of red leaves, a riot of colors that intoxicates the soul.

Yesanpo Scenic Area is located where the Taihang and Yanshan mountain ranges meet. Renowned for its majestic, precipitous, peculiar, and secluded landscapes, along with ancient historical relics, it is celebrated as an earthly paradise. The best place to view autumn leaves in Yesanpo is Baicaopan. Its main peak rises 1,983 meters, with rugged strength and lush vegetation, often called the "Green Pearl of the Taihang Mountains," a rare forest destination in northern China. The red leaves here are artfully scattered, with striking variations in color—from fiery red to tender yellow—a brilliant display that makes this the perfect viewing season.

Langya Mountain, part of the Taihang Range, gets its name from its jagged peaks that resemble wolf teeth. On its slopes and in its ravines, red leaves burst with color while persimmons scent the air, the forest dyed in hues straight out of a painting. Langya Mountain is one of China's 100 classic red tourism sites and an eco-mountain with national forest park status. With 80% forest cover, excellent ecology, and high negative oxygen ion levels, it's a great place for city dwellers to hike, exercise, and enjoy autumn leaves. Each fall, the trees, shrubs, vines, and herbs here reveal different colors, turning this heroic mountain into a vibrant canvas.

Baiyintuo Scenic Area is a natural plant kingdom with 494 species and 98% forest cover, mainly flowering canopy trees, 68% virgin forest. In the beautiful pristine canopy forests, various flowers bloom in succession. From the Qingming Mountain Opening Festival to the Double Ninth Red Leaf Festival, flowers never cease—every day is a flower festival welcoming visitors. Even before reaching Baiyintuo, persimmon trees laden with fruit catch your eye, and the multicolored hills form the red backdrop of harvest. The forest dyed in layers, red leaves like fire—a scene of boundless beauty.

Can'gutuo is an undeveloped, pristine scenic area. Unlike crowded famous mountains, it's relatively low-key and serene, ideal for family outings, hiker climbs, and team building. The surrounding peaks rise in varied shapes; compared to its famous neighbor Langya Mountain's grandeur, Can'gutuo's peaks are more delicately beautiful. The mountain is lush with trees like Cotinus coggygria, Chinese pistache, thorn-leaved mulberry, Amur cork tree, Mongolian oak, pines, and cypresses. In spring and summer you can enjoy greenery and flowers, and in autumn, red leaves. Squirrels leap among the rocks, and azure-winged magpies dart through the treetops, adding delight to the journey.

Since old times autumn has been sad and lone,

I say it's better than a spring day.

The beauty of autumn is one of a kind.

The brilliance of red leaves and the autumn wind complement each other perfectly.

Don't let the leaves down, don't let autumn down.

Catch the tail end of autumn to enjoy the red leaves,

And capture the most beautiful autumn with your eyes!
