Longtan Lake Gourmet Village Farmhouse
On Longtan Lake sits a unique farmhouse inn, also known as “Gourmet Village,” built on the north side of the lake. The three-story farmhouse looks very new from the outside — it was actually built four years ago. The rooms are immaculately clean and odor-free. Surrounded by majestic mountains and facing the vast Longtan Lake, the setting is breathtakingly beautiful, with stunning views. The wind stirs the lake water into white crests that lap against the rocky shore. Across from the farmhouse, a row of sunshades lines the lakefront, where sitting beneath them you can fully savor the feeling of being right out on the water.
The owner of Gourmet Village Farmhouse, known to guests as Old Zhao, runs the place together with his son — a true father-and-son operation. Old Zhao was a schoolteacher who, after retiring, now helps his son manage the inn. Compared to other farmhouses in the area, it’s clear that Gourmet Village attracts the most guests, many of them regulars, a sign of the owner’s honesty and excellent hospitality.
Longtan Lake’s water is crystal clear, perfect for swimming or boating at your leisure. The soft sandy shores are embraced by lush woods and thick grass, with birdsong and flower scents filling the air. In the middle of the lake lies an island surrounded by water on three sides and connected to the mountain on the west. Dense trees form a canopy that blocks the sun; you can fish by the lake or lean against the mountain and listen to the waves. This little island truly feels like a hidden, earthly paradise, completely cut off from the world.
On the west side of the main building, you’ll find four large traditional earthen stoves, still wood-fired in the old way. Meals cooked in these big pots are bound to be delicious, and the farmhouse specialties are sure to satisfy your taste buds. Fresh, organic farm ingredients paired with time-honored cooking techniques deliver an authentic rural flavor you won’t forget.
Every guest room is spotless and well-kept, with options like king-bed rooms and standard twin rooms.
