An Incredible Stay at Princess Iron Fan's Plantain House in Yesanpo
In Yesanpo's Baili Gorge, we found an incredibly stunning guesthouse — Princess Iron Fan's Plantain House.
Half a month ago, a few families of friends decided to have a weekend get-together. After two days of discussion, we still hadn't decided where to stay. We searched on Ctrip for guesthouses near Baili Gorge, comparing one after another, when we suddenly discovered the newly opened Princess Iron Fan's Plantain House. The stay experience was simply stunning!
Accommodation — My wife's focus
When staying at a guesthouse or B&B, my wife cares most about cleanliness. Princess Iron Fan's Plantain House was spotless and stocked with many disposable hygiene items. Usually, things like bath towels and toilet seat covers cost extra at a regular B&B, but here they were free, putting my mildly germophobic wife at ease. Bed linens are changed for each guest, and at night you could even smell the fresh scent of sunshine on the sheets. My wife said it was the first time she had brought a disposable bed sheet with her but felt so reassured that she took it back home unused.
Food — My focus
A friends' get-together calls for eating and drinking, and how could we miss a barbecue at night! I had already read online recommendations that when in Baili Gorge, you must try the local grilled rainbow trout, foraged wild greens, and wild mushrooms. We made sure to arrange all that for the evening! Princess Iron Fan's Plantain House and the neighboring Bull Demon King Art Guesthouse share the same owner, so we had dinner on the 4th-floor rooftop terrace of Bull Demon King. I especially recommend their grilled lamb chops — crispy skin, tender and juicy inside. I heard the owner picked up this secret skill by chance during a trip to Xinjiang. Truly highly recommended! Gazing at the distant twinkling lights while savoring grilled food with garlic... the scene couldn't have been more delightful!
Fun — Everyone's focus
It's hard to please everyone, but luckily we asked the owner, Bull Demon King, to help arrange things! The kids wanted to go fish-catching, the adults wanted horseback riding, the elderly preferred mountain hiking, the men were up for paintball and off-road motorcycling, the women wanted river rafting, and the brave ones wanted to bungee jump... Time was limited but activities were plenty. The owner, Bull Demon King, organized everyone's schedule perfectly, satisfying all their fun needs. He even thoughtfully prepared waterproof phone pouches, small fishing nets, buckets, and so on — very considerate. In addition, the public entertainment facilities at both Bull Demon King and Princess Iron Fan shops are shared. Inside the guesthouse common areas there's billiards, game consoles, a karaoke system, a mahjong machine, and more, so you'd never get bored even without leaving the inn.
The owners — the couple
A young couple from Beijing who love life and travel. They run the guesthouse for half the year and spend the other half wandering. Chatty and warm-hearted, they are a truly romantic pair. When we left, a scatterbrained friend forgot some clothes. The owner kindly called us and mailed the clothes back to us. Many thanks!
