Strolling here, you can enjoy food and fun while immersed in nostalgic memories, experience retro fashion street style, and even engage in interactive fun.
Nowadays, there are many internet-famous attractions, and family trips often fail to satisfy everyone's preferences. But here, the older generation can flip through memoirs of their youth, the post-90s can enjoy retro literary vibes, and children can browse various picture books. In short, the Chongqing 80s Living Street created by Reunion 1980 caters to every age group's desires~
Today I've sorted out some must-visit spots in Reunion 1980. The places shared below are all highly distinctive. Visit them all at once so you don't miss out on the movie-level set design! A quick walk around the entire street might take just half an hour, but if you love photography, the scenes here can keep you shooting unconsciously for an entire day~
(I) Outer Layer of the Street
The street is divided into an inner city and an outer city. The outer city mainly consists of several era scenes: the Fruit Wholesale Market, the Bayi Road Tube-shaped Building, Dacuo Street, Taipingmen Riverside Street, and Dayanggou Market. There is a nostalgic tube-shaped building with period-style unit compounds, various snack collections, and food stalls.
On Taipingmen Riverside Street, you can find Baba Tea (traditional Chongqing tea), snacks, and cigarette/alcohol stalls; Dayanggou Vegetable Market has small kiosks. Additionally, there are supply cooperatives and scattered nostalgic street vendors and load-carrying peddlers.
Here, you can walk through the tube-shaped building amid hawking cries, stroll along Taipingmen Riverside Street; or you can sit down and enjoy a cup of Baba Tea, feeling the leisurely time of old Chongqing while reminiscing about the unique life atmosphere of the 80s and 90s.
(II) Inner Layer of the Street
The inner city ticket is 9.9 yuan. After purchase, you get a fluorescent stamp, valid for same-day entry and exit. The inner layer mainly consists of era scenes: Chongqing Station, Zou Rong Road, and the City Center Square!
About the spots on Zou Rong Road:
Zou Rong Road features the Shancheng Photo Studio and the No. 5 Trolleybus, both very popular among young ladies for photos. No filter needed—just snap away and get retro literary vibes that overflow the screen~
No one visiting Reunion 1980 would miss this place. The yellowed photos take you back to the eventful years. It's a standard internet-famous spot. Using a wide-angle lens, you can get incredibly long legs; with the backdrop, you instantly transform into a supermodel of the 80s~ If you're interested, you can also change costumes here, instantly fitting into the era theme!
Post-90s may have never seen a trolleybus, but here at least we can glimpse the charm of the No. 5 Trolleybus. You can lean by the window pretending to look at the scenery, or even sit in the driver's seat and role-play as a trolleybus driver.
Notice that this trolleybus is actually a shop—it sells Chongqing's internet-famous drink: "A Yogurt Cow." A 12-yuan cup of original yogurt with purple rice is fairly priced and generously filled. Recommended for everyone~
About the spots in the City Center Square:
The City Center Square recreates the Chongqing Department Store and the Shancheng Widescreen Cinema. The authentic old Chongqing architectural style here takes you back to your youth, or fills the gaps in our memories of Chongqing in the 80s.
Shancheng Widescreen Cinema
This cinema is a highlight. For just 29 yuan, you can enjoy the "Looking for Teresa Teng" Holographic MR Interactive Music Show. Encounter the legend of an era through classic Chinese songs, effortlessly experiencing a 3D performance of Teresa Teng "herself" singing classics like "Sweet Honey" and "I Only Care About You." Fall under the spell of her sweet voice and delicate appearance—here you might understand why Teresa Teng became a diva that shook the Chinese music world.
Disco Square
Next to it, Disco Square was also a trendy place back then. At night, there are interactive performances by intangible cultural heritage craftsmen, era dance troupes, and internet-famous artists. The adjacent "Reunion is Fate" stage allows live song requests—real singing, not a prop!
Chongqing Department Store and TV Wall
The scenes here are especially brilliant. Under neon lights, the square is filled with various old TV sets, evoking memories of childhood when neighbors gathered at my grandfather's house to watch TV. Back then, TV sets were rare—only two or three on our entire street. At 7 PM, everyone watched the news together, then a TV drama. Those commercial breaks felt terribly long~
At the edge of the square, Baba Tea is the favorite leisure activity of old Chongqing people. Drink covered-bowl tea under a banyan tree, or use retro ceramic mugs to order a cup of eagle tea—experience the Chongqing definition of a leisurely life!
In addition, there are many detailed spots worth checking out. The One-Person Alley is interesting. When I went, an old man was dozing there!
In the old alley, there are even marked best photo spots for visitors. Upon closer look, I found it's a mirror design, making photos very interesting~
The store "Lazy Spoon" also has a unique style—a "Lazy Prosperity Group." It has old-fashioned blackboards from school days and wooden desks. Sitting there for a photo really brings back memories. The shop sells various cultural and creative products, special drinks, and snacks, full of nostalgic flavor~
This is a demolition scene. Coal briquettes—maybe today's kids don't know what they are—along with fire tongs, old coal stoves, and pickle jars. These items bear clear marks of the 80s and 90s. Can those old-time memories still touch your heart?
The Reunion 1980 street on the fifth floor is truly a treasure trove. Look at every object and scene with discerning eyes, and you'll find that there are more beautiful moments worth capturing than you can imagine! Whether it's the Chongqing Beer Experience Hall, the Dale Ballroom Dance Training Center, or the Comic Post Office, there are too many photogenic spots—worth slowing down to explore.
Now about the sixth floor: "Dreamwalking Bayu Twelve Scenes." The passageways and stairs are great photo spots—cool, high-tech, and a favorite for trendy sisters. When I came, I saw many girls in motorcycle jackets posing, haha~
"Dreamwalking Bayu Twelve Scenes · Light and Shadow Interactive Art Space" is actually a scene show. It uses seasonal solar terms and spatial evolution as clues, combined with immersive multimedia art installations, making the experience space viewable, audible, tangible, and interactive through sound, light, and electricity. At the same time, it incorporates AR experiences guided by the original Hongya Sound Celestial Maid 2D character, allowing multiple perceptions of the classical beauty of the Twelve Scenes of Bayu and the evolution of ancient and modern mountain city landscapes.
The ticket here is 50 yuan. Among twelve different themed scenes, you can not only capture text with light and shadow but also listen to the wind through pines and temple bells, watch snow, and admire flowers... These diverse immersive interactive experiences will surely make you linger. Outsiders watch the excitement, insiders know the essence. Though I'm an outsider who doesn't understand the tricks, the beauty of the scenes here made me feel the ticket was worth it!
"Golden Splendor Drifting Fragrance" – Ink painting interpretation, poetic flow, hands-on fun capturing text.
"Begonia in Misty Rain" – Veils dancing lightly, ink dripping into branches, quietly watching the begonia bloom and fall amid water-shadow interaction. Wherever you walk, sound follows you, as if in 360-degree surround sound!
"Geyue Mountain's Divine Sound" – Breeze on the face, clouds around the mountain temple, listening to the "heavenly sound" of temple bells and pine waves intertwined. Also, glimpses of "Tongjing Gorge Apes" and "Jinyun Mountain Twilight Clouds" can be seen!
"Hongya Dripping Green" – Waterfalls on all sides, water interaction, listening to cicadas and frogs, watching fish and summer lotus. Wherever you step, water ripples appear, and fish quickly swim away—making me unable to tell if it's real or fake!
"Cloud Seal and Clear Breeze" – Yellow dusk, swaying tree shadows, touching vines to feel color changes.
"Yellow Ge Evening Ferry" – Night falls, fireflies twinkle, meeting at the ferry of memories amid the fragrance of yellow gardenia flowers. This is my favorite scene—like a romantic firefly park. But firefly lights are unstable, making good photos hard, but here it recreates the dots of forest fireflies, with especially beautiful halos—extremely romantic~
"Buddha Tu Night Rain" – Bashan autumn pond, artistic rain curtain, recalling classic stories of Buddha Tu Pass and Night Rain Temple.
"Huaying Snow Clear" – White snow covering the mountains, encountering a truly romantic heavy snow on Huaying Mountain. Stepping into this scene, you'll feel an involuntary chill—try it yourself~
"Dragon Gate Bright Moon" – Moon rising east, fishing lights bright, listening to the tide, facing the riverside breeze, watching the full moon evolve. This scene is rich in content, also romantic under the moonlight—you can imagine many romantic details~
"Character Water Night Lantern" – Brilliant lights reflecting on the river. Interactive too: send blessings via your phone to raise a wishing lantern, inviting friends and family to enjoy the beautiful view. It's also a good way to confess to your crush~
The upgraded Hongyadong 2.0 version covers a more complete range of food, fun, and activities! If you come to Chongqing and reach Jiefangbei, consider setting aside an afternoon and evening for Hongyadong. Explore Reunion 1980 in the afternoon, then have hotpot, and finally enjoy the night view. Deeply experience Hongyadong—don't limit your understanding of it to online night photos. This treasure trove has too many points worth savoring~
