Chongqing: Encounter a Hotel Journey
People seek emotional connections during their travels: experiencing culture, maintaining family bonds, and self-reflection. Relieving travel fatigue and providing space for thought are the true needs of guests for hotel services.” —Bryan Kinkade, Editor-in-Chief of AFAR Magazine
Travel is not just about destinations and scenery; it’s also about the mood of the journey. Because traveling is about letting yourself enjoy the most beautiful views, taste authentic local cuisine, experience local culture, and be in your most comfortable state of mind. So have you ever thought that a good hotel could be reason enough to spend a couple of days? If you’re planning a trip or business trip to Chongqing, consider the Chongqing Regent Hotel for a relaxing and carefree hotel getaway.
Why recommend the Chongqing Regent Hotel? Because I just stayed there a few days ago, and the experience was truly amazing. Only by experiencing Regent’s service firsthand can you understand that its high-quality heritage is what places it at the top of the luxury hotel world. Let me show you how to make the most of this hotel journey and discover the “legend reborn, luxury seen everywhere” new Regent Hotel.
From the moment you enter the hotel lobby, the attentive butler service already eases your travel fatigue. Since check-in is processed in advance after booking, you avoid waiting at the front desk. The butler who escorted me to my room was a lovely lady. She not only carefully explained the room facilities and their functions but also thoughtfully asked about my needs, such as whether I had laundry to wash or if I needed any items. Such meticulous care makes you fall in love with the place instantly. If you’ve stayed at a Regent Hotel, you’ll understand that luxury is not about being expensive; it’s the value of service that embodies luxury.
The integration of technology in the hotel rooms adds convenience, such as the wireless charger by the bedside—just place your phone and it charges effortlessly. Basic services like laundry, WiFi, in-room minibar, and business facilities are provided at no extra cost. The Convenient Enjoyment service offers free, paid, or borrowed items based on your needs anytime—truly thoughtful. As the Chief Revenue Officer of Condé Nast International said in the hotel’s promotional video: “Luxury consumers actually want everything simplified; achieving that makes it easy to satisfy them. Regent not only meets guests’ needs but exceeds their expectations. From check-in to departure, everything is so comfortable and effortless. It is this seamless stay experience that places Regent at the top of the luxury hotel sector.”
Many hotel guests, like me, love the bathtub by the window. Especially at night, soaking in the tub while looking at the neon lights outside, and adding a glass of red wine, makes a romantic evening so easily attainable. I’d especially recommend trying different baths each night, as the hotel offers rose, lemon, and bubble bath options—you can choose whatever you like.
When I posted about the Chongqing Regent Hotel on my social media, several friends replied that they really like the Regent Hotel. The service makes people comfortable, especially the attention to detail everywhere. For example, seeing the invitation card for the Regent Club in the room—whether it’s a private breakfast, champagne afternoon tea, or sweet treats time—allows you to enjoy your private sanctuary.
I prefer spending my afternoon tea time here on a warm, sunny afternoon. As someone said: “Even if you’re very busy, you should invite friends, your loved one, or yourself to enjoy afternoon tea in the sunshine. It’s not wasting time or money; it allows you to experience the quality of life.” So push open the door of the Regent Club, and let the tapestry of time include flowers, books, desserts, champagne, or coffee. After all, the sun is warm, and everything is just right…
By the way, besides being a private sanctuary, the Regent Club also offers happy hour and dessert time in the evening, or a delicate exclusive breakfast in the morning. Whether Chinese or Western, it satisfies your taste buds. Especially the exquisite presentation makes you want to take photos before eating!
Speaking of food, the Robbins Steakhouse at the Chongqing Regent Hotel is a must-try. It is nominated for the Chongqing Black Pearl Restaurant Guide, making it arguably the best steakhouse in Chongqing. Claiming to be the best naturally means the environment, ingredients, and service are impeccable. Of course, the most important thing is the taste of the dishes.
This time, we indulged in a hidden menu (custom lunch), which included several unique dishes. For example, the Australian Wagyu steak with garlic sauce was extremely tender and delicious. The restaurant is on the second floor and has two private rooms (it’s best to reserve in advance). The main dining area is also nice; if you’re not on the custom menu, you just order a main course, and the appetizers and other items are buffet-style.
If you want to try Chinese cuisine or local Chongqing Bayu dishes, the Regent Palace Chinese Restaurant is a good choice. A plate of spicy chicken can stimulate your appetite. If you can’t handle spicy food, there are also Cantonese dishes, which are very authentic. The custard buns were our favorite—definitely worth ordering.
If you prefer a variety of options, the Yu Kitchen buffet is also excellent. I’d especially recommend one dessert: the soufflé. Described as the most feminine dessert, soufflé is notoriously difficult to make—either it collapses during preparation or within a minute after being done. Yet soufflé is also one of the most romantic desserts because the sweetness is at the moment you eat it right after it’s made—like love, a momentary brilliance. It can be seen as a metaphor for love: an extremely short moment, sweetly addictive, yet easily lost. For someone like me who rarely eats dessert, after Helen recommended it, I couldn’t resist eating a whole one.
There’s also the lobby bar, Ba Bar, where you can do business or relax. Between afternoon tea and cocktails, I prefer ordering a coffee and sitting by the window watching the changing light and shadow—rare peace.
Right now, the most popular place in Chongqing is the Regent Hotel. Many people say they stay here for a night or two purely for a hotel-focused trip. A must-visit spot in the Regent Hotel is the Two Rivers Bar on the seventh floor.
Under the night sky, order your favorite drink, sit down and enjoy the river view, look at the illuminated Hongya Cave across the way, listen to the music of the night, and feel like getting drunk. “On the night I miss you, I wish you were by my side. I don’t know if you can still change for me…” (The Two Rivers Bar is a quiet bar at night with live singers, and the per-person cost is quite reasonable.)
After sharing so much, I must talk about the hotel environment, which is the most important. A friend once said that staying at the Regent Hotel feels like an inspirational journey—not only does the hotel’s private sanctuary let your mind wander, but the local cultural essence is everywhere. Every detail is both an artwork and a cultural presentation.
Taking it slow this time, exploring the Regent Hotel, I discovered that the design details are all essences of local culture: Chongqing’s city flower—camellia, paintings made with chili oil, Rongchang hemp cloth… From the very beginning, Regent Hotels redefined modern luxury, not only providing guests with pleasing scenery at every turn but also offering comfortable and attentive service. As true luxury is not superficial beauty but the long-term inner cultivation accumulated over time.
Enough said. The luxurious Regent Hotel must be experienced in person by you who love life the most—every service, every detail, every day of your private experience. Just like the city of Chongqing itself, it’s both a three-dimensional painting and more life-oriented. So, enjoy your journey and embark on a Regent Hotel experience!
