A Great Spring Outing Spot Near Chongqing: Meet at Jinfo Mountain, Look for Your Own Spring Breeze Time
March, the season when everything revives, with bright sunshine and gentle spring breezes. Take advantage of the weekend and go for a spring outing!
Starting from Chongqing, it's only a 2-hour drive to Nanchuan Jinfo Mountain! Here you'll find kites, food, beautiful scenery, and hot springs, where you can fully enjoy your own spring breeze time.
Every ray of March sunlight feels warm on the skin. Tianxing Town at the foot of Chongqing's Jinfo Mountain is a beautiful and tender place, where ancient architecture blends with the tranquility of life. Experience the peace of spring light, small bridges, flowing water, and homes.
As soon as you step into the town, you might feel like you're in Lijiang Ancient City. But as you go deeper, you'll find it's a neighborhood built in the style of Sichuan-Chongqing stilted houses, nestled between mountains and rivers with clear waters and lush hills. Most buildings are nostalgic restaurants, general stores, and inns.
The stilted buildings along the street are adorned with various kites, fitting the spring theme. Walking along an ancient alley, you can see both the distant mountains and a small river hugging the houses. The river flows gently, like a gentle southern girl quietly waiting for visitors.
Strolling slowly, I happened to find this small shop "Travel Map Post Station" (旅图驿站). Its comfortable and cozy environment invites travelers to stop and enjoy a moment of tranquility. In your spare time, you can order a cup of coffee, read a favorite book, or chat with friends—it's a great choice.
The town isn't large, but it always surprises me. If Hongya Cave in the city center is a real-life version of "Spirited Away," then Tianxing Town, whether viewed from afar or up close, feels like stepping into a scene from that story.
Wooden stilted houses, winding bluestone paths—you can slow your pace and soften your time. The distant green mountains and azure sky make the whole town a portrait of slow living.
There's also an old street in the town dedicated to preserving craftsmanship. One such shop, Bamboo Art Hall (竹篾堂), displays many handmade bamboo crafts made entirely by an old grandfather. Seeing them takes me back to childhood, when my grandfather would sit at the door, playing with bamboo while chatting with the grandmother next door.
Walking further from Tianxing Town leads to Tianxing Hot Spring City. The season is just right—neither too hot nor too cold—for soaking in natural springs to relieve spring fatigue and relax body and mind. Tianxing Hot Spring City is elegantly designed, closely integrated with the surrounding mountains and waters. Divided by corridors into a dynamic spring area and a soaking pool area (13 pools), it also features multiple functional play zones, suitable for all ages.
Who says only winter is for hot springs? The March spring light decorates the pools of all sizes, and the warm sun fills the entire hot spring city. As far as the eye can see, there's green everywhere—get close to nature, let your body and mind return here, and absorb all the beauty of spring.
The spring water temperature here is 49°C, with high natural strontium content, moderate sulfur content, clear and transparent water—drinkable and bathable—with high medical and health value. The herbal wellness area has 13 hot spring pools with different effects, each relaxing the skin. Listen to music and the natural chirping of birds, enjoying this moment of comfort.
Rhododendron Flower Pool: Jinfo Mountain is a rare azalea kingdom in the world, with over 60 species of azaleas. High mountain azaleas have become a beautiful attraction at home and abroad. Chinese herbal medicine has recorded the medicinal effects of azaleas: sweet taste, warm nature, lowering blood lipids and cholesterol, moisturizing and beautifying. Tianxing Hot Spring's Rhododendron Flower Pool selects high-quality azalea petals, boiled and added to the spring water, featuring the special effect of dispelling rheumatism.
Osmanthus Pool: Osmanthus is a natural medicinal material. Dried osmanthus flowers and small branches are carefully boiled with mountain spring water, then poured into the hot spring pool. This is a classic Chinese herbal bath. The osmanthus fragrance uplifts the mood and has effects of moisturizing the skin and promoting blood circulation.
After visiting Tianxing Town, return to Tianxing Liangjiang Holiday Hotel to enjoy an afternoon tea BBQ with friends—a great option. I especially love the lawn outside the hotel, where spring sunlight sprinkles down. It's a fantastic spot for photos!
If you are a hotel guest, afternoon tea and BBQ can be arranged at Liangjiang Holiday Hotel! Grill a table of delicious food yourself, brew a pot of spring tea, invite four or five friends—life is so simple and joyful.
It happened to be the Jinfo Mountain Kite Festival. The next day after breakfast at the hotel, we headed up to Jinfo Mountain!
Isn't the joy of spring about releasing happiness? Just like kites, let hopes and dreams fly higher and farther! At an altitude of over 2000 meters, closer to the sky, feel joy and freedom among the fluttering kites.
Colorful kites add spring colors to Jinfo Mountain. Wandering on this grass field, my whole mood relaxed. Although the weather wasn't great, the misty fog and green grass created a different scene.
The opening of the Kite Festival and Blessing Culture Event also featured traditional dragon dances and professional kite masters flying large kites—truly spectacular.
Reject conformity and make a unique kite. There is a special kite hand-painting station here. Especially families with children can help their kids draw their own personalized kite—a very meaningful experience.
Here you can use your imagination: various handmade kites or even cosplay yourself—see whose kite attracts the most attention, and find childhood joy with friends.
Facing the morning sun, walk along the ancient path, gaze at the sea of clouds surging among the mountains. At an altitude of over two thousand meters, encounter magnificent views. Jinfo Mountain, as a blessed land of favorable weather, peace, and harmony, carries a rich historical and cultural heritage of prayer.
All the way up, walking along the long boardwalk, you'll reach the Guanyu Pavilion at the top of Jinfo Mountain. Here, ring the golden prayer bell, tie a prayer ribbon, and entrust all good wishes to the season of growth.

For a two-day-one-night weekend trip, we chose to stay at Tianxing Liangjiang Holiday Hotel at the foot of Jinfo Mountain. Whether in terms of location or service environment, it meets five-star hotel standards—very suitable for travel and vacation.
Surrounded by forests, Liangjiang Holiday Hotel boasts an elegant environment and pleasant scenery: backed by green mountains and facing a babbling stream, only a hundred meters from Tianxing Town and Tianxing Hot Spring.
Especially the hotel's corridor, which lights up with star lights at night—very beautiful and perfect for taking trendy photos!
Besides beautiful scenery, Jinfo Mountain also offers great food. It's the season to taste spring flavors—various seasonal delicacies such toon shoots, wild vegetables, spring pancakes, and bamboo shoots. This time at Liangjiang Holiday Hotel, we tasted nourishing spring dishes that made us truly happy.
Nanchuan's famous square bamboo shoots taste refreshing and crispy; my favorite medicated stew pot contains a dozen precious herbs—fresh and fragrant; there are also specialty beef pot, healthful stew, boiling fish, etc.—enough to satisfy your appetite and provide health benefits. While spring is in full glory, bring family and friends for an outing, enjoy the spring scenery, pray and climb mountains, and taste the unique spring flavors!
