Mountain City and Fog Capital, Chongqing has never been a stranger to me.

Almost every year I come to Chongqing. I have witnessed Hongya Cave rising from obscurity to being featured on the Spring Festival Gala; I have seen Qiansimen Bridge from its completion to being crowded with tourists; I have watched Liziba transform from an ordinary light rail station to an Internet-famous check-in spot; I have observed Ciqikou evolve from a local teahouse to a food street for out-of-town visitors... More than that, I have witnessed the city becoming better and better. Rather than saying Chongqing is a newly popular Internet-famous city, it is more accurate to say that its unique charm has conquered the heart of every tourist.

Regarding the magical architecture of the Mountain City and the various delicacies of the Fog Capital, these have long been widely discussed and are no longer fresh. So why not take a look at the most luxurious hotel in Chongqing today – the Regent Hotel – and see what charm it holds that has made it popular through understated luxury!

Located at the confluence of the two rivers, the Regent Hotel Chongqing not only boasts a unique city view but also demonstrates exceptional craftsmanship in its design. The hotel is not simply a low-key luxury Chinese style; rather, it incorporates local cultural and artistic features into every detail. Using elements that best evoke memories of Chongqing, such as roof tiles, ramie cloth, chili peppers, and camellias, it infuses the city's landscapes into every space. Everywhere you look is a landscape, every entry and exit is culture. You can find a sanctuary in the midst of the bustling city, exploring and touching the cultural memories stored within this city.

Upon entering the hotel, the first thing that catches the eye is the two-story-high 'Mountain City Imagery' ceramic art wall. The wall, designed with eaves elements, feels like a god's-eye view overlooking the mountain city. After passing through the automatic wooden entrance door, the large curtain wall on the side of the concierge desk, inlaid with white ceramic tiles, resembles rolling mountain ranges, reflecting the vitality and elegance of the mountain city. The symmetrical layout of the lobby will conquer every strict perfectionist. Grilles and screens run through the space, layered and translucent, providing just the right separation for different functional areas.

The design of the guest rooms is also full of Chinese elements. The dark gold crackle paint background wall, the red antique lacquered furniture, the hand-knotted carpets with ethnic minority patterns, and the 'Mountain City Chongqing' art painting that combines Chinese and Western styles using oilcloth over rice paper—every detail leaves a deep impression, perfectly blending the mysterious charm of the East with the calm and grandeur of Chinese style.

What is truly commendable is not only the hotel's design but also the meticulous butler-style attentive service. The room is like a treasure chest, full of little surprises: the welcome fruit on the table and the local specialties in the double-layer food box are very heartwarming; the complimentary minibar is stocked not only with a wide array of drinks but also with various snacks to pass the time, and even a bottle of white wine; the amenities are from the French luxury bath brand Frederic Malle, the hairdryer is the latest Dyson, and they thoughtfully provide more than ten types of complimentary daily necessities from hair ties to face masks; the romantic bathing experience further makes you feel the pampering from Regent. Whether it's a romantic rose bath, a refreshing bubble bath, or an invigorating lemon bath, while bathing by the window you can take in the dazzling night view of the mountain city. Who wouldn't love such an evening?

Even if it rains and you can't go out, there's no need to worry. The hotel also provides books on Chongqing's history and culture, as well as various fun board games and card games, making it easy to pass the time.

If you book an executive room, you might want to go up high to enjoy the river view alone, and spend time at the 'Regent Club' on the top floor. Private breakfast time, morning tea moments, champagne afternoon tea, cocktail time, dessert time—at any time, delicious food and fine wine accompany you.

Enjoy an afternoon tea 'with a story' in the hotel's lobby lounge, Ba Lounge. The Ba Lounge is filled with an artistic atmosphere. The wooden openwork screens bring Chinese elegance and calm. On the two-story-high theme wall, white camellias are scattered in a flying pattern, and a bronze lion sits regally in the center, taking you into memories of history.

Ba Lounge's afternoon tea ingeniously adopts a 'cultural relic' theme. This is because during the 'Cultural Relics Move South' process, thousands of crates of artifacts were transported from Beijing to Chongqing and finally to Taipei, and all three cities have Regent hotels. Under this wonderful connection between history and modernity, the Regent Hotel Chongqing launched the 'National Treasure Afternoon Tea Feast' to pay tribute to this moving past: the Jadeite Cabbage, the Imperial Seal, and the Forbidden City bronze lions represent the call of the Forbidden City; the Red Rock red velvet cake, the Two Rivers jelly, and the camellia chocolate pay respect to the Cultural Relics Move South during the Anti-Japanese War; the celeste aiyu jelly mousse, the 'Jade Dew' Wensi tofu pudding, and the luminous pearl cream mochi echo Taipei.

A plate of nine-grid boxes and a multi-compartment container are a tribute to culture and a backtrack of history. The thousands-of-years-long scroll of Greater China's history reaches the heart through these exquisite pastries. Finally, drink a pot of Emperor Qianlong's imperial Sanqing tea. Such a 'profound' afternoon tea, with intention and innovation, allows history to be savored on the taste buds.

Life needs a sense of ritual, and the Robbins Steakhouse at the Regent Hotel is that sense of ritual amidst the numbingly spicy everyday life of Chongqing people.

Stepping into Robbins Steakhouse on the second floor, four copper art screens depicting the Chongqing mountain city catch your eye. These four screens are hollowed out and transparent, depicting the dock and hotpot culture, stair culture, and mountain climbing scenes, authentically recreating Chongqing's urban life. They echo the real mountain city view across the river outside the window, creating a fascinating visual experience.

The ordering style at Robbins Steakhouse is buffet plus main course. Unlimited appetizers, salads, and desserts are buffet-style, laid out beautifully on the entire counter, looking mouthwatering. The Wellington steak is the signature dish; the cooking and flavor are exceptionally good. The pink beef, paired with foie gras and black truffle, is wrapped in crispy pastry, full of juice and rich flavor, as if performing a waltz on the tongue! The portion size is also suitable for two to share. Besides steak, the silver cod and king prawns are also worth trying—fresh ingredients, exquisite plating, and flavors that will not disappoint.

You can also go to the wine lounge at the entrance to personally select a good bottle of wine. A night with good food and fine wine escapes the trivialities of daily life. Every special day deserves to be commemorated.

Speaking of Sichuan cuisine, the impression always includes that bold and spicy 'jianghu' spirit. If you want to find elegance in Sichuan flavors, then Regent Xuan is definitely the top choice in the Fog City.

The decoration of Regent Xuan is full of Chinese elements. The vermilion walls and the tea room made with openwork screens have a kind of Chinese elegance like 'turn the scarlet pavilion, low the carved lattice.' A huge three-dimensional crystal hanging ornament is exquisitely stunning. It is said that the designer was inspired by the bronze bird-shaped zun unearthed from the Sanxingdui culture, using 250,000 crystals and 2,757 threads to hang it, expressing the inheritance and continuation of traditional Chinese culture. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the private room bring the Jialing River view into the room, allowing you to enjoy the spicy Sichuan flavors accompanied by the beautiful scenery of Yuzhong Peninsula.

Regent Xuan focuses on Sichuan and Cantonese cuisine, combining flavors and tastes to meet various needs of guests. The authentic Chongqing spicy chicken (La Zi Ji) uses small chicken pieces that are fried until crispy, absorbing the fresh aroma of the peppers. Searching for a piece of chicken in the red pepper plate and eating it is especially satisfying. The crispy Australian beef ribs are crispy on the outside and tender inside, oily but not greasy, soft and fragrant, and the generous portion is full of surprises! The pan-fried moon shrimp cake lets you fully understand what 'Q-bouncy' texture is. With one bite, your lips and teeth are filled with the fresh fragrance of shrimp meat! Also, order a pot of Cantonese soup. The lion's mane mushroom in the health-preserving soup is crisp and tender, sweet and refreshing, very suitable for soothing the 'spicy' stomach.

The charm of Mountain City cuisine is not only found in 'fly restaurants' (hole-in-the-wall eateries). The collision of spicy boldness and Chinese elegance creates a unique 'Regent Xuan'!

Chongqing's night is charming and dreamy;

The wind by the river is gentle yet noisy;

The wine at Liangjiang Bar doesn't intoxicate, people intoxicate themselves.

If you want to take in the night view of the Fog City, instead of crowding in the crowd on Qiansimen Bridge, it's better to relax leisurely at Liangjiang Bar, drinking and having fun while enjoying the view and the moon. When life is good, enjoy it to the fullest; don't let the golden cup face the moon empty.

Liangjiang Bar at Regent Hotel is a terrace bar. Its design incorporates unique Chinese pavilions, towers, and freehand landscapes. The undulating wooden screens on both sides also engrave the impression of the mountain city. As the night deepens, the cool evening breeze by the river, the star-like candlelight in lanterns, the soft singing of the singer, the whispers among the tables, the aroma of food in the air, all set against the brilliant lights on the opposite bank, make Chongqing's night charming and affectionate.

On such a night, it seems easy to lose enthusiasm for food; just indulging in the beautiful view is enough. A few cups of light wine, a few close friends, old stories being discussed, new stories happening. The unique charm of Liangjiang Bar always makes one forget the passage of time. Empty glasses, intoxicated eyes, time easily leaves us behind.

Above the shimmering golden light, every inch exudes refinement. Every moment at Regent is an ultimate pampering of life.

Throwing away the hustle and bustle of the city, yet integrating the city's culture into its very core—perhaps this is the most unique charm of the Regent Hotel!
