Wulingshan Great Rift Valley
The Wulingshan Great Rift Valley in Fuling, Chongqing, is renowned for the oldest 'scar' on Earth—a sheer cliff crack created by dramatic crustal movements. It is hailed as 'China's most dynamic canyon'. The scenic area is vast, magnificent, and awe-inspiring. Towering layered peaks rise on both banks, cliffs as sheer as if cut by a knife. Waterfalls plunge straight down from the precipitous ridges. The river valley twists and turns, deep and enigmatic. Strange rocks pile up on the valley floor, and streams gurgle along. Every step reveals a new vista, an endless delight for the eyes. With forest coverage exceeding 95% and an extremely high concentration of negative oxygen ions, it is a veritable oxygen bar and an ideal summer retreat. There is the modern-style Time Tunnel, yet it is housed within a cave that is 250 million years old. In the Wishing Valley, you can also encounter modern martial arts flash mobs and dances.
The Qingtian Gorge Ground Fissure stretches 1.5 kilometers. Formed by powerful surface water erosion, cutting, and ground collapse, it is a crack that seems to tear the earth's crust apart. With a history of over a hundred million years, it reveals different beams of light depending on the time of day. It is arguably the most extraordinary ground fissure in Chongqing, featuring scenic spots such as General Rock (Jiangjunyan) and Laojun Cave. Inside the fissure, daylight is dim, the cliffs are steep, and walkways hang precariously. Stalactites take on myriad shapes, and the 'One-Line Sky' view is truly spectacular.
The Tianmen Cave Cable Bridge is 180 meters long (with a main span of 140 meters) and 2.5 meters wide, with a safety rating of Grade II and a capacity limited to 350 people. Starting from 'Tongqiangtiebi' (Copper Wall and Iron Bastion), the bridge sweeps magnificently through 'Tianmen Cave' and crosses over to the famous scenic spot 'Fengyakou'. It is also one of National Geographic's top 100 photography locations, an absolutely spectacular sight.
