Line 6 is my daily commute—I know it so well I could tell each station with my eyes closed!

As a foodie, the biggest joy after work each day is hunting down delicious food at different stations.

If you’re still wondering what to eat tonight, I’m happy to share my treasure trove. Come along!

★ Cha Yuan — Jing Sheng New Style Jianghu Cuisine

Address: No. 7-62 Tongjing Road

The starting station of Line 6, Cha Yuan, is my home. Whenever there’s a family gathering, I pick this place, Jing Sheng Jianghu Cuisine.

This new-style Sichuan restaurant has a huge menu; after so many visits I still haven’t tried everything.

If you ask what to recommend, I’d say everything is good—no duds. You can close your eyes and order with confidence.

★ Xiao Shizi — Chao Tian Men Hotpot

Address: 2F, No. 2-1 & 2-2, Nanguo Lijing, 48 Cangbai Road

In Chongqing, hotpot joints are everywhere. As a local old-timer, amid the many hotpot restaurants in Hongya Cave, I recommend Chao Tian Men Hotpot.

An authentic Chongqing time-honored brand, recognized as a municipal intangible cultural heritage hotpot.

The broth comes in a jade seal pot inspired by Chongqing’s seal culture—this is a highlight, be sure to snap a photo!

The spicy and numbing broth is fiery but not harsh; no worries about breakouts.

What I love most are the tripe and glacier goose intestines—the quality is simply stunning.

When we have out-of-town guests, a stroll around Hongya Cave followed by Chao Tian Men Hotpot makes a perfect day.

★ Wu Li Dian — Xiang Yu Zhen Grilled Pork Belly Main Shop

Address: 100m east of Ba Da Tuo Beef, Rongjing Road

After working late, I always crave a cold beer and a handful of skewered meat—it cuts fatigue in half. Xiang Yu Zhen is my late-night diner.

The signature pork belly, grilled to shed excess fat, is bursting with aroma; I can gobble three skewers in one go—so satisfying.

The special tofu and charcoal-grilled wide noodles are also must-tries. The wide noodles are soft yet chewy, but don’t overeat—they’re very filling.

★ Hua Hui Yuan — Ma Zha Tun Dry Pot

Address: No. 49 Songqiao Branch Road, Longxi Town

I discovered this dry pot spot through Douyin recommendations.

I fell in love after just one visit; in my book, their chicken feet are the pinnacle of dry pot cuisine.

The braised, tiger-skin chicken feet slip right off the bone.

For two, add some intestines—it’s mind-blowing!

★ Ran Jia Ba — Da Qin Xiao Yan

Address: 2F, Area A, Airong Yuncheng, 429 Xinnan Road

Ever since visiting Shaanxi the year before last, I’ve been longing for its cuisine.

After a long search, I finally found this place that comes closest to the Shaanxi flavors I remember.

Hand-grasped lamb ribs—I’ll shout it three times, it’s that good.

Roujiamo—need I say more? Every table orders it. For a staple, go with Da Qin cold noodles, then burp and head home!

★ Cai Jia — Yue Xiang Lin San Xi Kou Tofu Fish

Address: Yinxiangwan Group, Tongxing North Road, Sanxing Village, Caijiagang Town

San Xi Kou’s tofu fish is familiar to most Chongqing folks.

There are many tofu fish restaurants nearby, but I’m particularly fond of this one. The owner claims to use eco-friendly live fish—I can’t verify that, but the fish is indeed fresh, and the fish head soup is my favorite.

Plus, the decor is a trendy Hong Kong style from recent years, so photo lovers should definitely strike a pose.

★ Bei Bei — Hong Xia Restaurant

Address: No. 147 Beiquan Road

A family-run eatery with homestyle flavors.

I recommend the chives with shredded kidneys—the kidneys are cleaned well with no off-flavor.

The Guobridge tripe has a homestyle spicy-numbing taste, but the tripe is cooked just right, crisp and tender.

As for other dishes, I find them pretty similar to ordinary restaurants, so feel free to choose at will.

Since my stomach is too small, I haven’t yet eaten my way through the entire Line 6.

Any local friends want to join me? Let’s go discover all the tasty eats together!
