Leisurely Time on Dubai Creek
For a hundred years, the bustling Dubai Creek has been the lifeblood of the locals, the preferred settlement of early residents, and the place where Dubai's first port was born and the pearl industry flourished.
Today, it remains vibrant, continuing to attract visitors from all over. You can choose one of the many traditional abra boats to cross Dubai Creek between Bur Dubai and Deira (downtown Dubai); this water journey is one of the most affordable and authentically Arabian experiences in Dubai.
"Abra" means "to cross" in Arabic. Boats depart throughout the day at intervals of a few minutes, shuttling between four stations along Dubai Creek.
The first route goes from Deira Old Souk Abra Station (near Spice Souk) to Bur Dubai Abra Station (west of Textile Souk).
The second route is much busier, running from Al Sabkha Abra Station (southwest of Baniyas Square) all the way to Dubai Old Souk Abra Station.
