Guangzhou Hot Spring Hotel Recommendation: A Weekend of Family Fun at Wenxuan Yuan in Conghua

Autumn is finally here, and the sweltering summer heat is gradually receding. It’s time to step into nature, breathe in the scent of autumn, and choose a family-friendly hotel where you can kick back and spend quality time with the little ones. An enjoyable weekend getaway with the kids is truly what matters most.

Luckily, I discovered a hidden gem just an hour’s drive from Guangzhou—Wenxuan Yuan, located in Liangkou Town, Conghua. Nestled near Bishuiwan Hot Spring, Sanya Tang Yougu, Liuxi River National Forest Park, and Liuxi Xiangxue Park, the scenery here is simply enchanting.

It goes by many names: a family vacation paradise, an Instagram-worthy hot spring hotel, a picture-perfect spot…

An inviting and impressive hotel:

As soon as you arrive, you’ll notice how wonderful the surroundings are—it leaves a lasting impression. The exterior design is sleek and modern, and the hotel’s setting is top-notch, taking full advantage of the natural landscape. It’s truly nestled between mountains and water, with breathtaking views.

The architecture is contemporary yet infused with local character, blending seamlessly into the forested hills. The moment you step in, you’re enveloped by a gentle tranquility that will make you fall in love with the place instantly.

After checking in, we strolled around the hotel and quickly realized it’s perfectly designed for a relaxing retreat.

There’s even a coffee and book bar downstairs—perfect for when you’re ready to unwind. Sip a coffee, flip through a book, and chat away. It feels wonderfully laid-back, and the coffee is surprisingly good, with a rich, authentic taste.

A family villa you’ll adore at first sight:

The villa area has several standalone villas, each floor complete with its own bathroom, guest room, and living room—spacious compared to regular suites.

This time we booked Villa No. 2. Walking along the villa paths with the family, the air was fresh and crisp, instantly lifting our spirits. When we reached our villa, we were surrounded by lush greenery, which made us feel truly happy.

The villa has three floors, with two king-bed rooms, two twin rooms, and one parent-child room. It also boasts a private living room, a tea ceremony setup, sauna, mahjong, and an outdoor private garden hot spring pool—offering the highest level of privacy.

Opening the front door, we were amazed by the world inside. The entrance hall is spacious, and everything you need is here.

The room features a 2-meter king bed, a huge plus for a family of three.

Our kid loved this comfy, extra-large bed—shoes off, jumping right on and rolling around.

Outside the villa, towering trees blocked the fierce afternoon sun, and the light filtering through the leaves became soft and gentle. Every photo we took here looked stunning. Throw on your swimsuits, and the whole family can start a fun pool party right away.

The villa also has amenities like mahjong and a tea ceremony setup, catering to all the family’s entertainment needs. You can easily while away a wonderful holiday right here.

Enjoy some tea, chat, and savor the ease of life. Living in such a poetic setting is genuinely soothing and delightful.

Healing and relaxing outdoor environment:

The hotel’s charm doesn’t stop at the villa—there’s also a beautiful outdoor area that soothes the soul. After stepping out of the villa, we still had some time, so we explored outside.

Everywhere you look is a picture-perfect scene, as if you’ve stepped into a secluded paradise, embracing a simple, back-to-nature life—exactly the idyllic countryside dream Oriental people long for.

As dusk approached, we were pleasantly surprised by the stunning sunset. Wandering around here felt incredibly relaxed, even a little lazy.

There’s also a small island (called Diaoyu Island—haha), where we could go boating. Surrounded by mountain views, it was just too comfortable.

Special and delicious local cuisine:

On vacation, food is absolutely essential. A tasty meal can elevate a perfect trip even further.

When we were tired from all the fun, a well-prepared feast was just what we needed to crown the journey.

Conghua’s authentic braised beef brisket with turnip; braised pig’s trotters with kidney beans; Liuxi River reservoir big fish head; free-range chicken roasted over lychee wood.

This dinner came to only RMB 594—great value for money. It also included a soup made with mountain spring water, really affordable and the dishes were outstanding.

After the hearty dinner, of course, we headed back to our villa to soak in the hot spring. After a full day of fun, the whole family sinking into the warm water was the ultimate pleasure. The hot spring bath left us so relaxed, body and mind completely soothed. That night, we slept incredibly deeply.

Comforting and relaxing Instagrammable hot spring and pool:

The next morning, after breakfast and still with plenty of time, we went to the hot spring and spa area. There’s a swimming pool, a massage pool, and 12 small hot spring pools, all very clean, with well-equipped changing rooms and thoughtful lockers for guests.

The setting is beautiful, and the facilities are excellent. Since we visited in the morning, the massage pool was almost empty, so we got to enjoy the massages undisturbed.

The massage area features professional hydrotherapy equipment: vibration massage beds, bubble loungers, foot ultrasound, heel ultrasound, thigh ultrasound, water umbrella bath, goose-neck waterfall bath, spot ultrasound, water floatation bath, whole-body bath (standing), bubble seats, and more. It was an incredible spa experience—utterly blissful.

Immersed in the warm waters, close your eyes and melt into the heat, feeling every pore open up. Soak away your fatigue and wash away all restlessness.

The hotel thoughtfully provides swim rings for those who love taking photos—fun and photogenic, guaranteed to make you look gorgeous in every shot.

It possesses the unique tranquility and sweetness of Guangdong, with stunning natural scenery.

Here, life slows down. It’s lazy but never boring.

It gave our family a wonderful, warm, and joyful weekend getaway.

We drove there. Starting from downtown Guangzhou, it’s about an hour’s drive. Driving is recommended since this is a resort hotel, and it’s not conveniently located near bus stations.

Sometimes Ctrip runs specials: a standard double room can be as low as RMB 498. Without promotions, rates start at RMB 680 for a standard room. The Villa No. 2 where my child and I stayed starts at RMB 5,280. It depends on which villa you book—check Ctrip for details. The best deal during promotions can be as low as RMB 2,999.
