In recent years, the [industrial style] has become a leading design trend in the dining scene, prized for its restrained yet rugged charm and untamed, free-spirited attitude. Typical industrial interiors feature bare cement, exposed brick walls, exposed pipes, and metal accents.

Constructing a factory-inspired space in the middle of a bustling city is both forced and costly. Repurposing a warehouse into a coffee bar, however, feels like a more authentic, budget-friendly expression of industrial style.

Today, let me take you to a truly industrial coffee space.

Tucked inside a plant nursery in Qiaonan, Panyu, just a ten-minute walk from the metro station, it's also easy to reach by car. You'd never guess there's a café hidden inside this flower market.

Turn into a narrow lane and you'll feel like you've arrived in Thailand. Look up to blue skies, flanked by rows of warehouse buildings. One of them, lush with greenery, is today's destination—Wu Nian Coffee Lounge.

Behind its low-key exterior are delightful surprises. Step inside to discover a surprisingly vast space—a full 250 square meters! Embracing the popular large warehouse design seen overseas, this is a hybrid venue combining a café and a casual lounge.

An industrial loft-style coffee house this size is rare not just in Panyu, but across all of Guangzhou. The ground floor charms you with its exposed ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, simple walls, and scattered seating that create a wonderful interplay. Upstairs, a handful of more intimate seats add depth to the space.

The name Wu Nian (Nome) embodies the idea of escaping the clamor of the city to enter a state of emptiness and letting go. For us modern souls burdened by stress, we truly need such a place to unwind, shake off the dust, and loosen our overstretched rubber bands to regain vitality.

In this fantastic space, far from the big city crowds, it's perfect for hosting parties and gatherings.

If summer heat frazzles your nerves, let a feast help you forget everything. Our visit was in the afternoon, right during 'light meal' hours (12:00–20:00). We ordered several items from the menu and curated two set meals so you can order easily while ensuring both aesthetics and taste.

- SET 1 -

For coffee lovers

After 8–10 hours of slow drip, the thoroughly saturated coffee grounds yield a more natural flavor, completely free of astringency. Fermented for over two days, it develops a richer aroma and noticeable sweetness.

The first sip delivers the boldness of espresso. As the coffee blends with coconut water, the flavor evolves, gradually turning refreshingly sweet. Wu Nian uses a smoky blend of coffee beans, so you'll detect a nutty aroma. Served with dried coconut flesh and coconut chips, you can bite into a hint of sweetness, with zero calories—much favored by the health-conscious.

Raspberry ice cream fruit crêpe

A sweet treat perfect companion to any meal. The crêpe is topped generously with fruit, the natural fragrance of the pancake itself adding the finishing touch. Mangoes, blueberries, and apples enfold a scoop of raspberry-flavored Italian gelato, creating a tangy-sweet, velvety texture.

- SET 2 -

For a fresh and light combination

White Peach Mojito

The traditional Cuban mojito made famous by Jay Chou. During the day you get a non-alcoholic version. White peach-flavored soda brings a subtle sweetness, while mint adds a splash of refreshing coolness—evoking an exotic flair. The crushed ice in the glass is far from lazy; it's a mark of respect to the mojito.

Wu Nian NOME (Signature)

Its delicate pinkish hue comes from freshly juiced large tomatoes, delicately accented by pineapple and oat-infused yellow peach. The taste is gently sweet and appetite-whetting, served in a stemmed glass so lovely you'll want to linger over every sip. This is a non-alcoholic drink; in the evening, a cocktail version of the same name is available, perfect for a girlish, tipsy heart.

What about the snacks? Surprisingly generous portions that show real commitment: squid blossoms, salted crispy chicken bites, sweet potato fries with plum powder, and a German-style chicken sausage salad. The portions are ample for an afternoon tea for three to five friends, and the flavors won't disappoint. In the salad, the yellow mustard dressing cuts through the fried foods, balancing the richness.

The beautifully presented drinks in SET 2 paired with the snack platter are ideal for a girls' day out. The summer beverages mixed with the loft-style setting conjure up the leisurely vibe of Chiang Mai, Thailand.

More items worth ordering...

Fried egg sandwich

The thick egg sandwich that's taken Korean streets by storm is available here. Packed with generous fillings that spill out of the box, it replaces the traditional raw egg with cooked scrambled egg, so you won't need to worry about food safety.

At Wu Nian, nothing pairs better than a 'full English breakfast.' It comes with all the essential components: Nuremberg-style German sausage, French-style roasted potatoes, grilled tomatoes, creamy scrambled eggs, organic mixed greens, and garlic-roasted baguette slices—a sincere and hearty plate.

This sumptuous all-day breakfast ensures you're energized for the day. Sharing it with you~
