Guangzhou Hot Spring Hotel Picks: A Weekend Family Getaway at Wenxuan Garden in Conghua
Autumn has arrived, the sweltering summer slowly fading away. The important thing is to step into nature, savor the essence of fall, and choose a family-friendly hotel for a weekend escape with the kids, spending precious quality time together.
Luckily, I discovered a hidden gem just a one-hour drive from Guangzhou, located in Liangkou Town, Conghua: the Guangzhou Wenxuan Garden Conference Center. It’s close to Bishuiwan Hot Spring, Sanyatang Valley, Liuxihe National Forest Park, and Liuxi Xiangxue Park, with enchanting scenery all around.
It goes by many names: a family resort paradise, an Insta-worthy hot spring hotel, one of the most scenic spots...
A hotel that leaves a lasting impression:
From the moment you arrive, you’ll notice the wonderful surroundings that leave a deep impression. The exterior is simple yet chic, and the hotel’s setting is superb, blessed with an enviable natural advantage—nestled between hills and waters, with stunning views.
The architecture blends modern style with local character, tucked into the forested hills. The moment you step in, you feel a gentle tranquility, and you’ll fall in love with the place instantly.
After checking in, we strolled around to explore. You’ll soon realize this hotel is truly perfect for a leisurely retreat.
Downstairs, there’s a cozy café and book bar. When you’ve had your fill of fun, you can come here for a cup of coffee, read a book, or chat—it’s incredibly relaxing and pleasant. The coffee is quite good, with a genuine, rich flavor.
Love at first sight: the family villa:
The villa area has many standalone villas, each floor with its own bathroom, bedroom, and living room, offering much more space compared to the suites.
This time, we booked Villa No. 2. As a family vacationing here, walking along the villa paths with fresh, pleasant air lifted our spirits. Arriving at our villa entrance, surrounded by lush greenery, our mood soared.
The three-story villa has two king-bed rooms, two twin rooms, and one family room. It features a separate living room, a tea ceremony set, sauna, chess games, and a private outdoor garden hot spring pool, offering ultimate privacy.
Opening the front door, we were amazed to find a whole different world inside. The foyer is spacious, and the facilities are fully equipped.
The room came with a 2-meter-wide king bed, a detail that really pleased our family of three.
Our little one absolutely loved this comfortable, spacious bed—kicked off shoes and rolled around on it right away.
Outside the villa, tall trees shielded us from the fierce afternoon sun, and the light filtering through the leaves became exceptionally soft. Photos taken here turn out amazing with no effort. Change into swimsuits, and the family can start a joyful pool party right here.
The villa also has leisure facilities like board games and a tea ceremony, satisfying all the family’s entertainment needs. You could easily spend a wonderful, relaxing holiday right here.
Sipping tea and chatting, we felt life’s ease. Staying in such a poetic, picturesque setting is truly soothing and delightful.
Healing and relaxing outdoor surroundings
The hotel’s charm isn’t just inside the villas; it’s also in the beautiful outdoor environment that heals the soul. After leaving the villa, with some time to spare, we decided to stretch our legs outside.
Facing the outdoors, every step revealed a new picture-perfect scene. The scenery was so idyllic, it felt like being in a secluded paradise, a return to simplicity and the pastoral life that Eastern dreams are made of.
Towards dusk, we were surprised by the stunning sunset glow. Wandering around, it felt incredibly relaxing, even a little lazy.
There’s also a tiny island (called Fishing Island—haha). You can go boating around the island, with the surrounding mountain views, it’s just too comfortable.
Specialty local cuisine:
On any vacation, food is an absolutely essential part. A delicious meal can add the perfect touch to a wonderful journey.
After we’d played ourselves tired, we needed a carefully prepared feast to elevate the trip.
Conghua-style braised beef brisket with radish
Braised pork knuckle with red kidney beans
Liuxihe Reservoir big fish head
Free-range chicken roasted over lychee wood
This dinner cost only 594 yuan — great value! It also came with a mountain spring water soup, very tasty and an excellent deal.
After the sumptuous dinner, it was naturally time to return to our villa for a hot spring soak. After a day of fun, the whole family soaking in the hot spring was such a delightful pleasure. The hot spring was incredibly relaxing, healing both body and mind, and we slept deeply that night.
Comforting and relaxing Instagrammable hot springs and pool
The next morning, after breakfast and with time to spare, we headed to the hot spring spa area. It features a swimming pool, a massage pool, and twelve small hot spring pools, all very clean. There’s a well-equipped changing room and even lockers thoughtfully provided for guests.
The surroundings here are also beautiful, with excellent facilities. Since we came in the morning, the massage pool was less crowded, so we could fully enjoy the massage.
The massage area is equipped with professional hydrotherapy devices: vibrating massage beds, bubble loungers, foot sole ultrasound, heel ultrasound, thigh ultrasound, water umbrella showers, gooseneck waterfall baths, targeted ultrasound, water flotation baths, full-body standing baths, and bubble seats. You can truly indulge in a spa experience here—so, so comfortable.
In the hot spring pool, close your eyes and melt into the warm water, letting every pore relax. Soak away your fatigue and wash away restlessness.
The hotel also thoughtfully prepared some swim rings for ladies who love taking photos. Haha—not only fun, but perfect for pictures, guaranteed to make you look gorgeous!
It possesses a tranquility and sweetness unique to Guangdong, with enchanting natural scenery.
Here, life slows down—lazy but never boring.
It gave our family a wonderful, warm, and happy weekend.
You can drive there from downtown Guangzhou in about an hour. Self-driving is recommended, since it’s a resort hotel and not near a bus terminal.
