Family Trip to Nansha | A Weekend Getaway Destination near Guangzhou
Nansha, at Guangzhou's southernmost tip, borders Dongguan, Zhongshan, and Shenzhen, and is adjacent to Hong Kong and Macau. It is China's southern gateway to the world. Nansha relies on its marine and waterway resources—the Pearl River Estuary is dotted with islands and crisscrossed by waterways, forming a unique water town landscape. Nansha has become a key tourism development area planned by Guangzhou, and it's the most fun place around the city. It neighbors Lingdingyang, and its unique brackish water environment nurtures sweet and fresh aquatic products. The mighty Pearl River flows south, depositing sand and forming shoals at its mouth. Nansha boasts an overwhelming array of resources: Nansha Port Cruise Terminal connects with international cruise routes; Nansha Tianhou Palace is perfect for praying, making wishes, and enjoying vegetarian meals—ideal to bring your parents along. The newly trendy Puzhou Garden has become a hot spot for social media photo shoots. There's also Nansha Wetland Park and the seafood and fruit street at the Nineteenth and Fourteenth Inlets. Staying at the Yuexiu Sheraton Hotel Guangzhou Nansha, whether for a short trip or a two-day, one-night weekend escape, everything is perfectly arranged. Just thinking about the fun and delicious food in Nansha makes me impatient to go. This year, cross-province and international travel isn't suitable, so exploring the best spots around Guangzhou has become our main summer mission. Enjoying food and accommodation in one seamless package is the right way to kick off the summer holidays. Let's seize the tail end of summer! For seasoned foodies, summer is an absolute treat because Nansha's seafood is calling. Nansha is abundant in sweet potatoes, guavas, papayas, star fruits, fire bananas, Shenwan pineapples, Xinken lotus roots, and more. Thanks to its excellent ecological environment, the quality is superb. Eating seafood here has become a hallmark; not eating something unless it's in season is the hallmark of a true Guangzhou native. Nansha is truly a hidden gem. I've always had a great impression of Nansha, because I used to visit frequently many years ago—I remember being young back then. Nansha impressions:
• Puzhou Garden, like Alice's Wonderland: You can even picnic here, strike a pose without any pressure!
• Nansha Marina: Experience the luxury of yachts. You can also rent a yacht and try sailing out to sea.
• The Yuexiu Sheraton Hotel Guangzhou Nansha is located in the resource-rich core of Nansha. What impressed me most on this trip was tasting desserts made with local Nansha guava, and the incredibly fresh seafood that makes your taste buds dance. With carefully selected seasonal fresh ingredients, you don't need to trek to the Nineteenth Inlet; you can embark on a culinary holiday right at the hotel.
The Sheraton Executive Lounge is spacious, bright, and cozy, perfect for business work or afternoon tea.
I appreciate the dining options the most—from afternoon tea to Chinese lunches and dinners, everything is covered. When bringing kids to the hotel, the main hope is that they can eat happily and be satisfied. The hotel also crafts unique afternoon tea sets inspired by Nansha's local characteristics. My child was so content!
The hotel's fitness center is well-equipped, featuring the world-renowned "Technogym" fitness equipment. The outdoor heated infinity pool, overlooking Nansha's scenery, is irresistible—this season, only swimming can keep the heat away.
Reflections under a sunny sky are incredibly beautiful.
My son especially loved the family-friendly room—no matter how old you are, you're still a child at heart. I asked him if he would enjoy these kid-friendly amenities like a little kid, and he said even though he's a teenager, he still loves toys and the décor that brings back childhood memories. He told me one should keep a childlike side to live happily. The hotel has a total of 291 guest rooms, including 30 deluxe and premium suites, all equipped with the Sheraton Signature Sleep Experience bed customized for the brand, a 55-inch oversized flat-screen TV, high-speed internet, and a separate bathtub and shower.
A welcome dessert for kids was sent to the room, which thrilled him.
He made a good point. We ended up playing hide-and-seek in the room—he'd pop into the tent, pretend to be a doll, or say, "Mom, turn on the starry night light," and he was overjoyed. I'm so glad he liked the family suite. The environment was cozy, and this year being so unusual, not being able to take him on cross-province or international trips, taking him around Guangzhou like this was a kind of graduation gift. The room features 270-degree glass windows, offering a partial view of Nansha's scenery—my son especially loved watching the metro from the window.
The tent was his childhood favorite; he said it all brought him joy.
His favorite thing in every hotel stay is soaking in the bathtub—it's his private retreat. As night fell, the twinkling lights outside the window added a special touch to our mother-son bonding time. I really enjoy traveling with him; it brings us closer, and we can have heart-to-heart talks about life.
All the toiletries in the room were specially designed for kids.
Very thoughtful—even the bathroom was equipped with a toddler toilet seat for little ones.
When night came, we turned on his special night light, and the starry sky accompanied him to sleep. Wishing you sweet dreams, my son.
Waking up early, the lavish buffet at the Feast Signature restaurant was stunning. Now he's completely independent, choosing his favorite foods and trying new tastes. He was so well-organized.
I've always loved Japanese and Korean cuisine, while my son prefers Chinese food at Caiyuexuan. The two restaurants at the Yuexiu Sheraton Hotel Nansha satisfied both our foodie cravings perfectly. The Japanese restaurant's all-you-can-eat hidden menu fulfills my desire to travel abroad without leaving the country, letting me savor the flavors of Japan. This time, we dined at both restaurants with different styles. This was the Japanese and Korean restaurant "Miyabi."
Chinese cuisine seems to suit most palates. Nansha's abundant resources give chefs room for creativity and imagination. Fresh ingredients and a superb geographical location make Nansha's cuisine deeply memorable. Every dish was exquisite with a unique taste. Using seasonal fresh pairings gave this hot summer a refreshing and appetizing start. I can confidently tell friends: I embarked on a Nansha culinary journey right at the hotel.
I'm so happy with this two-day, one-night trip to Nansha. Even without a car, there's no need to worry—Nansha has convenient transport, mature infrastructure, and plenty of surrounding tourist facilities, making it very suitable for family vacations. Now, have you figured out how to explore Nansha?
