What’s It Like to Stay in a Hotel Illuminated by ‘Jewelry Inspiration’?
Many people may not know that Panyu is hailed as the 'Jewelry Capital.' Panyu is a modern global center for gem and jewelry production, and the jewelry industry is a proud economic pillar here. In the heart of New Panyu, we discovered that the city's jewelry inspiration has given us a marvelous surprise—the birth of Guangzhou Aoyuan Sheraton Hotel. Opened in August 2020, it is the first international brand hotel in the Panyu district.
The hotel takes its design inspiration from jewelry, artfully integrating local Panyu culture. With unique ingenuity, it creates not a flashy display of gemstones and glamour, but a low-key, elegant atmosphere.
From the hotel entrance and lobby onward, jewelry elements seep into every corner, allowing guests to wander quietly through a world of jewelry. I love this hotel experience illuminated by 'jewelry inspiration.'
Jewelry Art Gallery – Hotel Entrance and Lobby
If the entrance corridor exudes a sense of grandeur and sophisticated elegance, then the front desk and concierge in the lobby, with their metallic and marble textures, display extraordinary magnificence. Standing in the lobby, in an instant you can feel the vast and profound art of jewelry.
Upon arrival, I enjoyed an afternoon tea. The exquisite refreshments were set up in a 'secret chamber' next to the lobby—a private social space specially designed by the hotel.
The lobby lounge seamlessly connects with the reception area, staying true to the Sheraton brand's emphasis on creating a social atmosphere.
Jewelry Collection Room – Lin Lang Hui All-Day Dining Restaurant
The wall display area in Lin Lang Hui All-Day Dining Restaurant has been crafted into a miniature jewelry exhibition showcase. Dining here, your mood may well be lit up by the brilliance of jewelry. The home-style comfortable dining tables and chairs invite us to savor our food while leisurely appreciating the artistry—this is a cozy, artful restaurant.
My favorite spot is near the window, where it feels like stepping into a glowing Pandora's box. The lighting fixtures resemble jewelry display stands, and having breakfast here in the morning is a true delight.
The restaurant has four open kitchens, so the cooking process is fully visible. With an added focus on hygiene, we can dine with greater peace of mind and enjoyment.
The buffet is a dazzling array of delicacies—fresh cold seafood platters, authentic Cantonese roast meats, delicious barbecue, exquisite desserts, healthy salads, and unlimited soft drinks, red and white wines. Lobster and king crab legs are hot items, the desserts are gorgeously presented, and once again it's a 'eat until you can't walk' experience.
Jewelry Box – He Yu Xuan Chinese Restaurant
The reception desk in the Chinese restaurant is shaped like a vessel for storing delicacies, hinting at hidden treasures, echoing the antique food boxes displayed in the entrance corridor.
In the main dining area, the jewelry box design is even more apparent. With semi-enclosed seating and space, and even specially designed lighting, you can easily imagine that dining here is a pleasure.
The restaurant has eight exquisitely designed private rooms, all named after jewels. Opening each room feels like opening a beautiful jewelry box—like the 'Sapphire' room where we dined.
The private dining rooms feature crystal, metal inlays, and carved ceilings with Chinese styling, and the tableware is carefully selected bone china.
The food tastes wonderful! Opening the menu, it's all authentic Cantonese cuisine with mouthwatering aromas. We sampled some of the restaurant's finest dishes: the appetizers alone—Kurobuta char siu, spicy preserved vegetables, warm-tossed snow fungus, and amber-glazed walnuts—were already exquisitely tempting.
The jasmine-scented clear soup with sea clams made a strong first impression, its fresh, pure flavor capturing my palate.
The crispy fried milk paired with garlic-flavor spare ribs takes Shunde specialty to the extreme.
Steamed tiger grouper with green Sichuan pepper gives the taste buds a natural affinity for that pepper.
The crispy-skin sweet and sour pork, a classic dish with vivid colors and great presentation, turns out to be crispy outside and tender inside. One bite of the sesame-crusted skin lets you experience crispiness followed by tenderness.
The sesame crispy chicken: with one bite, the sesame fragrance fills your mouth; the chicken skin has a pastry-like crispness, and the rich chicken flavor is irresistible.
The final surprise was a duo of mango sago with pomelo and egg tart, deeply rooted in Lingnan cultural tradition.
Jewelry Appreciation Room – Sheraton Executive Lounge
The executive lounge on the 41st floor is an even more prestigious and elegant space. On a clear day, you can absolutely see the Canton Tower with the naked eye. From this vantage point in the heart of New Panyu, the bustling city vista seems endless.
Jewelry-Inspired Space – Home-Style Guest Rooms
All hotel rooms offer expansive views. Open the curtains and the bustling cityscape comes into sight. Being in a high-floor room gives you an expansive feeling of 'seeing all mountains in a single glance.' Each room features a crystal cube that sparkles captivatingly under the light, illuminating the room's beauty.
The walls also bear jewelry-inspired decor, and the furnishings lean towards a home-like arrangement, creating a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere that's thoroughly enjoyable.
It's said that the bathroom vanity design replicates a jewelry designer's workbench. Who would have thought of such a handicraft-inspired design? So thoughtful! Even the lighting and color schemes are cleverly planned, making you want to linger at the sink a bit longer.
The family suites at Guangzhou Aoyuan Sheraton Hotel are like rare jewels—currently limited-edition rooms. The little dinosaur theme instantly won the heart of my little one, Huashengmi (Peanut).
Details like the washbasin, bathtub, step stool, and children's toilet all make me feel the hotel's meticulous care in service.
The hotel also has a dedicated kids' club with many different play facilities, letting children enjoy a variety of games.
Additionally, there's the jewelry flagship store—the banquet hall and meeting rooms, and the jewelry energy recharge station—the pool and spa center. The indoor heated pool with a Jacuzzi is designed with vibrancy, while the spa aims to make guests, like jewelry, emerge renewed and radiant after care.
Guangzhou Aoyuan Sheraton Hotel pursues the local jewelry culture of Panyu while embedding fashion and modern art. The hotel's facade itself is like a moonlight treasure box, but even more dazzling are the details inside. The design showcases the essence of Panyu's jewelry industry, all while maintaining a humanized and efficient creative living experience.
The hotel boasts a prime location, sitting right at the heart of the Wanbo Business District from the start. There are many Insta-worthy spots nearby for sightseeing, making it a great choice to stop by occasionally.
