Guangzhou’s autumn and winter come and go in the blink of an eye,

making it even harder to predict the weather than to read a girl’s mind.

But luckily, Guangzhou locals who know how to have fun and eat well are never constrained by the weather.

November hasn’t really turned cold yet?

No worries, because Zengcheng late-flowering cabbage is hitting the market!

That alone is reason enough to drive to Zengcheng for a feast!

This time, we’re at

Sanying Hot Spring Resort Hotel,

which boasts its own flower field and vegetable garden.

You might think having a vegetable garden as a hot spring resort is impressive?

Even more impressive—there are over 70 hot spring pools of all sizes here,

and every room comes with its own private hot spring pool.

If hot spring resorts had ranks,

Sanying would definitely be king.

Arriving at Sanying Hot Spring Resort Hotel,

the little one joyfully dashed across the lawn.

Right after checking in, we dropped off the bags and took a peek at the room to share with you.

Sanying doesn’t use ordinary key cards—

the card sleeve actually holds two bracelet-style key fobs.

Besides door access,

they can also be programmed for the hot spring area, dinner buffet, breakfast buffet, and more.

Basically, wearing this bracelet lets you roam the entire resort.

The room also has its own private hot spring pool.

Just place the key fob on the sensor and water flows.

If you’d rather not soak with others in the communal area,

quietly enjoying your own little haven in the room is another lovely option.

We happened to catch the resort’s late-flowering cabbage event,

so as foodies, we couldn’t miss it!

Entering the flower field, we encountered a group of beautiful ladies in qipao—

all staff of Sanying Hot Spring Resort Hotel.

I didn’t expect them to have such graceful poise!

Late-flowering cabbage is a famous specialty from the area north of Zengcheng and south of Nankun Mountain.

It’s usually planted around the tenth lunar month, and harvested 90 to 120 days later.

Because of its long growing period, each stalk weighs about one catty when picked,

and the heaviest can reach over three catties—truly impressive!

So from November to January,

Sanying’s flower fields are planted with late-flowering cabbage seedlings.

Guests visiting during this time can not only taste the delicious cabbage,

but can also try planting one themselves!

Doumei got a taste of this freshness!

Previously, she only read about “Sympathy for the Peasants” in books.

This time, she wielded a little shovel, planted a seedling by hand, straightened and covered it with soil—

experiencing firsthand the toil of “facing the earth with your back to the sky.”

Now she truly understands why we should cherish food and others’ hard work.

After a series of little trials,

we finally planted rows of late-flowering cabbage seedlings in the soil.

Looking at these tiny accomplishments,

Doumei gained yet another little skill~

Besides parent-child planting,

there were plenty of fun and interactive games on site,

making it feel like a childhood fair.

Games like push-pull fun, ring toss… if you manage to win,

you can get sweet potatoes, corn, late-flowering cabbage, pomelos, and other farm produce as prizes.

My mom, on her way to the hot springs in her bathrobe,

happened to pass by and saw us playing.

Unable to resist, she joined an incognito late-flowering cabbage soup dumpling DIY.

The handmade dumplings were then handed to the chef to be steamed on the spot,

and Doumei couldn’t stop exclaiming, “So delicious!”

There was also a late-flowering cabbage tasting event, and everyone was brimming with enthusiasm!

This 3-meter-tall late-flowering cabbage tower is a must-photograph landmark.

If you love the farm produce and want to bring some back for friends and family,

the hotel thoughtfully provides a specialty market.

Zengcheng late-flowering cabbage, Zengcheng cured meats, soy sauce,

late-flowering cabbage noodles, Zengcheng dried lychees, and other specialties all carry strong local character.

Coming to Sanying Hot Spring Resort Hotel, the highlight is of course the hot springs!

With over 70 open-air pools,

the hot spring source is at the foot of Shirenling in Nankun Mountain.

The water temperature is 75°C, with a daily flow of over 2,000 cubic meters!

Rich in over 30 kinds of minerals and trace elements beneficial to the human body,

including alkaline compounds, magnesium, potassium, sodium, zinc, and metasilicic acid,

it has been medically tested to meet hydrotherapy standards

and is a rare weakly alkaline hot spring water found in the world.

Wow~ each pool inside truly has its own character—

soaking in one pool per day, it would take nearly three months to try them all!

Sanying divides the hot springs into multiple themed zones.

In the beauty and skincare zone, there are girls’ favorites like

the rose pool, imperial bath (milk pool), and more.

Soaking often can improve blood circulation and make skin softer, fairer, and smoother!

spending an afternoon soaking here is both relaxing and stress-relieving.

In the tree-hole hot spring zone,

beneath a brilliantly colorful “big tree” hides a secret—

it’s actually a foot massage area.

Sitting around the tree, your feet rest in a foot therapy pool—

it feels just like the old days when people gathered around a big tree, chatting freely.

Inside the multicolored karst cave hot spring zone,

pools are arranged according to the body’s twelve meridians.

Tips:

Hot spring time is the perfect moment to unwind body and mind,

but do mind the soaking duration.

Generally, after about 15 minutes, take a break.

You can sip some jujube tea, chrysanthemum tea, or rose tea to replenish body fluids—

these are readily available throughout the hot spring area, very thoughtful!

Between the hot spring zone and the hotel lobby lies a kids’ playground,

so families traveling with children can let them burn off energy here.

After soaking, it’s time to fill your belly!

The Sanying Western Restaurant solves the daily “what to eat” riddle!

Its culinary theme changes roughly every quarter—

previously featuring Brazilian churrascaria, Malaysian Nyonya cuisine,

Southeast Asian sweet-sour-spicy appetizers, etc.

Some classic dishes are kept as permanent items,

like my favorite Thai-style mango seafood salad.

Japanese cuisine, sashimi, seafood are of course buffet staples,

along with a wide variety of delicious hot dishes,

barbecue, grilled steaks, sushi, cocktails, and more—

almost 1,000 dishes, so you can eat however you please.

Of course, you’ve got to save room for my favorite desserts!

This time it felt even more mature and enjoyable, with many more parent-child activities added.
