How to Spend a Day in Guangfo? Don’t Miss These Spots for Food, Fun, and More
This year, with airlines launching flexible flight packages like 'Fly at Will', 'Unlimited Fly', and 'Peace of Mind Fly', travel-starved wanderers finally have an excuse to head off on a whim. Yet ticket restrictions can make plans feel rushed. So how can you truly relax and let a spontaneous trip slow down? In fact, all you need is 72 hours — exactly a weekend plus an extra day — or even just 48 or 24 hours. Near the airport city you can reach, escape the crowds, enjoy some tranquility, or treat yourself to a shopping spree. Living in Shenzhen, getting to Guangzhou is a breeze for me. When people think of Guangzhou icons, the Canton Tower, Five Rams Statue, and Zhenhai Tower come to mind. Some say visiting Guangzhou without seeing the Canton Tower is a regret. Well, I’d argue coming to Guangzhou without hopping over to Foshan is an even bigger miss. Every city has its calling card, and Foshan boasts many: the capital of kung fu, a foodie paradise, a ceramics hub, home to small appliances, furniture, and more. What outsiders know best is the Guangzhou-Foshan integration — you might say the two cities share a single name card. As the saying goes, a tree with big roots provides good shade. Foshan’s location spells future potential. Sitting in the heart of the Guangzhou-Foshan economic belt and the high-end innovation cluster of Sanlongwan, it’s attracting top international hotel brands, like the Crowne Plaza Foshan Nanhai. I’m picky about hotels before every trip. Finding the right one not only recharges you but adds fun to the journey. A great hotel offers comfort, easy transport, and full amenities — and if it brings its own scenery, even better. The Crowne Plaza Foshan Nanhai ticks all these boxes, so I booked it for this visit. From Shenzhen North Station, I took the high-speed train to Guangzhou South, then a bus to Foshan — less than an hour door to door. Convenient! Stepping into the hotel, the first impression is grandeur. The design is distinctive, blending modern minimalism with Lingnan charm and Foshan’s kung fu spirit. Even the lobby lighting hides tales of Wong Fei-hung and Thirteenth Aunt. The hotel’s kung fu theme runs throughout. At Yu Gong Guan Chinese Restaurant, Yue Se Western Restaurant, and Yuan Shan Specialty Restaurant, top chefs select fresh ingredients, pay meticulous attention to preparation, and craft all kinds of delectable dishes. You can taste the fire of the kitchen. Yue Se Western Restaurant even offers indoor and outdoor seating — choose to dine in the garden and soak up the leisurely open-air atmosphere. The hotel features eight room types — lake-view rooms, deluxe suites, kids’ rooms — 308 elegant rooms in total. Floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows give wide views over Wenhan Lake Park and the cityscape. The sprawling outdoor lawn blends with the refined garden landscape, perfect for embracing nature. The banquet foyer and garden even allow drive-in access for meetings or wedding celebrations. Professional conference spaces can be split into separate meeting areas, a boon for business travelers. The bedding feels absolutely divine. I love the recliner sofa, where lazy afternoons or evenings melt away as you lie back and gaze out at the city shifting from daylight to neon. You almost wish time would freeze. There’s also a freestanding bathtub and a separate wet-and-dry shower area. Toiletries are neatly arrayed in plain sight — easy to grab and go. The bathroom layout is spacious and bright. With a room and setting like this, you can feel like you’re on vacation without ever leaving the hotel. Staying here, whether at dawn or dusk, you can bike, jog, or stroll around Wenhan Lake. Not every city offers such a peaceful, comfortable hotel. On a fine day, you can even watch the sun set in hues of orange. By the lake or inside your room, you’ll be enchanted by the soft dusk. The setting sun floats like faint fragrance among the city corners, as if the air is tinted with a warm, muted glow — a touch of ‘moonlit dusk.’ The high-rises and land glow from dim rose light into twinkling neon. If you’re traveling with kids, there’s plenty to keep them happy. The children’s playground on the ground floor has slides, a trampoline, and rocking horses — little ones play freely while parents enjoy a short break. Take them cycling, or to the sandpit for digging. In short, your day will feel full and unconfined. The second floor houses the gym and swimming pool. Professional trainers are on hand to guide you. Swim laps in the heated indoor pool to wash away work fatigue. The biggest surprise: there’s a separate shallow pool just for kids, perfect for splashing around safely and happily. The pool is temperature-controlled, so you needn’t worry about chills. You can even join a family dragon boat and piggy race game, or do water aerobics with your little ones to stretch and move. After a good sweat and a relaxing dip, head back to your room and say goodnight — a perfect sleep awaits. Yue Se Western Restaurant, on the first floor, serves an abundant buffet and high-quality à la carte food. Through the floor-to-ceiling windows, you can enjoy garden views while savoring a feast. Yu Gong Guan Chinese Restaurant, on the second floor, specializes in classic Cantonese dishes and Foshan local flavors. The décor is elegant and comfortable, ideal for family and friends gatherings. Yuan Shan Specialty Restaurant offers traditional flavors from around the region: Chaoshan delicacies, Hakka snacks, Cantonese claypot rice, double-boiled soups, and more. In one hotel, you can sample different cuisines without worrying about dietary discomfort. In this world, only love and good food shouldn’t be let down. Love has been disappointed too often — we can’t afford to waste the food. The Crowne Plaza lounge is glamorous and inviting, with a fine selection of teas, wines, and other drinks. Sip tea and chat by day, or enjoy a little nightcap. My absolute favorite, though, is the stunning, delicate afternoon tea. Sitting here instantly lifts your mood and melts away stress. On a quiet afternoon, lounge by the window as lazy sunlight wraps around you. Cradle a cup of refreshing tea or coffee, listen to soft music, read a graceful passage — just you and a peaceful interlude. The aroma of afternoon tea seems to scent every corner of the lounge. Sunlight filters through the glass onto the tabletop, and a sense of longing slides down smoothly with each sip of black tea. Glance out at the scenery — the blue sky, white clouds ambling elegantly — as the cozy afternoon slowly slips away. A romantic atmosphere, irresistible sweets. If this is the mood you crave, bring your family or your special someone here, create a moving moment, and give them an unforgettable afternoon tea. The Crowne Plaza Foshan Nanhai is conveniently located near attractions like Guangzhou Panyu Chimelong Safari Park, Shunde OCT Happy World, Pingzhou Jade Street, and Florentia Village. If you plan to explore nearby, just let the front desk know in advance and they’ll help arrange a car. Due to time constraints, I only visited Florentia Village on that trip. Florentia Village is a charming Italian-style outlet, with European architecture that makes you feel like you’ve stepped abroad. Countless brands, free to browse. The village is exquisitely designed, brimming with romantic, exotic atmosphere, diverse brand choices, tempting discounts, and attentive customer service — making Florentia Village - Guangfo Luxury Designer Outlet a fresh fashion and travel destination for South China. It’s a photographer’s dream. Ladies can snap away, then shop to their hearts’ content. I went on a weekday — few people, comfortable environment, perfect for uninterrupted photos. No one photobombs your shots, no queues for fitting rooms. The feeling is pure bliss. Free shuttle buses on weekdays run easily to and from Guangzhou South Station, so you can schedule your visit at your own pace, no need to rush. Overall, the Crowne Plaza Foshan Nanhai is ideal for family getaways, short trips, and business travelers. Best of all, it’s great value: comfortable rooms, lovely setting, and a fantastic experience. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Foshan for travel or work! Good things, not hidden, so we share. From Beijing (Daxing Airport or Capital Airport) to Guangzhou (Baiyun Airport) only costs just over 200 yuan; from Shanghai (Pudong Airport or Hongqiao Airport) to Guangzhou is around 200 yuan; from Shenzhen to Guangzhou, there’s a high-speed train every half hour — convenience beyond belief, ready to go at a moment’s notice! The hotel lies at the intersection of Nanhai, Panyu, and Shunde, in the high-end innovation cluster of the Greater Bay Area and Sanlongwan (Sanshan New Town). It’s just 5 km straight from Guangzhou South Station, 2 km from the Guangzhou-Zhuhai West Expressway, and about 41 km from Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport — transport is extremely convenient. From Guangzhou South Station, take Bus Fo 211 (bound for Dali Coach Terminal), go four stops, get off at Huandao South Road, and walk to the Crowne Plaza Foshan Nanhai. PS: When traveling, please book tickets in advance, stay safe, and take necessary precautions. Travel guide index 1. Foreword 2. Stepping into the hotel — grand yet modern 3.
