Guangzhou Discovery | Like Traveling Back in Time, This Old Xiguan Guesthouse Is So Charming
On this trip to Yangcheng, I heard that the Xiguan culture here is very well-known.
Rainy alleys, oil-paper umbrellas, girls in qipao...
The graceful figures of Xiguan ladies strolling along the arcade streets of the Republican era,
Just imagining it feels uniquely charming.
Following a local's recommendation, I visited the 'Lizhiwan Scenic Area'
and discovered that the ancient buildings in Liwan District are well-preserved.
While wandering around,
my eyes were drawn to a classic-style guesthouse.
The first floor is the guesthouse's dining area,
an overall five-star environment.
Chatting with the owner, I learned that this guesthouse, converted from a Xiguan mansion, was designed by an internationally renowned master — Mr. He Yongming, winner of the German IF Design Award.
The design prominently highlights local elements:
Xiguan tanglong doors, Lingnan green brick walls, wooden lattice Manchurian windows...
Sitting in the tea room, the entire space feels full of Zen.
A gentle breeze flutters the white gauze curtains.
Reading leisurely while listening to the wind, or sipping tea to the sound of rain — it's truly delightful.
Of course, it's also perfect for a Republican-era-style photoshoot.
Master indeed,
every space and element is super harmoniously matched,
every corner you look at is artfully arranged,
even a photo novice can snap some amazing shots.
The second floor houses the guest rooms,
overall environment four stars.
Entering the room,
you feel as if you've stepped back into the 1930s,
modern furniture paired with antique walls, doors, and windows,
a romantic blend of Chinese and Western styles naturally arises.
Since everyone seems so interested, come check it out!
