The Lingnan region is blessed with a warm climate. As the New Year celebrations wind down, spring’s arrival can be seen everywhere. With the season’s warmth and blossoms, the earth is clothed in its most gentle and captivating guise.

Spring is the perfect time to chat about flowers. I'd love to share with you those colorful moments—soothing to the eyes, and even healing to the soul.

A month ago, the 28th Guangzhou Garden Expo concluded. Every spring, this garden feast is highly anticipated. On the romantic Haixinsha Island, a rendezvous with spring is a stirring experience.

The 'Legend of the Five Rams' gave Guangzhou its nickname 'City of Rams.' But this international metropolis has another moniker that I find more fitting and vivid—'City of Flowers.'

Flowers bloom year-round without fail. In every season, for Guangzhou locals, going flower-viewing is a favorite topic of casual conversation.

Calling it the 'City of Flowers' sounds more tender. For an established first-tier city, flowers everywhere bring a warmth of life to the concrete jungle. The coexistence of urban development and green ecology creates the living environment we depend on.

The annual garden expo on Haixinsha Island dresses up the city's central axis, creating a sea of flowers that attracts citizens and tourists alike—a lively spectacle.

Since the concept of the 'Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area' was introduced, the future moves of the Pearl River Delta urban cluster have drawn special attention. As development deepens, the Bay Area's endeavors are thriving.

This year's expo revolves around the Greater Bay Area with the theme 'Bay Area in Bloom.' Covering 100,000 square meters—more than half of Haixinsha Island—it’s clear that no effort or thought was spared.

After booking a visit time in advance via the Suikang Code, simply scan your ID card to enter—quick and easy. Everyone has an innate love for beauty, and a fondness for flowers is hard to hide.

Plenty of people come specially to visit the expo. Under the lenses of cameras large and small, the 'urban living room' bustles with crowds, mirroring the surrounding sea of flowers—such a delightful interplay between people and nature.

With all kinds of flowers as a backdrop, even people-watching becomes more enjoyable. These exhibits, infused with art and imagination, stand out and are so lovable you can hardly bear to part with them.

Since its inception in 1994, the Guangzhou Garden Expo has grown into a grand event for the Lingnan horticultural industry and a powerful calling card for the 'City of Flowers.' While the lingering chill of winter still holds sway in the north, Lingnan is already a tapestry of blossoms, full of life.

My favorite pavilion is a lifestyle art space called 'Spending Time Among Flowers'—a double entendre. It's both a flower-themed exhibition and a place where you'd happily while away the hours, admiring all the creative touches in this sunlit house.

Take a look at those ordinary flowers, combined in whimsical ways to embellish spring and soften visitors’ gaze—everywhere you turn is a picture.

This 1,000-square-meter art space is filled with exquisite details in every corner, a feast for the eyes. When faced with beauty, you can’t help but capture it, knowing it will become a pleasant memory to revisit later.

Imagine if your home looked like this—after a long commute, the day's fatigue would just melt away. In such surroundings, even gloomy thoughts would struggle to survive. After all, everything seems much more pleasing to the eye.

Beyond that, the layout of the whole pavilion offers plenty of inspiration. Plants and flowers are not just optional still-life ornaments; they can also be silent mentors in your quest for a poetic life.

The sunshine is perfect, so don’t let spring slip away. As the saying goes, 'The year's plan starts with spring.' Spring means far more than just a season—it’s the rebirth of all things after a harsh winter.

Such beauty, intoxicating to the heart.

Bright red has always been the most joyous color in Chinese people's hearts.

In the exhibition area, a tall, striking red concentric circle catches the eye. This feature has a poetic name: 'Floral & Feathered Forest – A Collection of Natural Beauty.' It’s said that the layered circles are woven from 100 tons of steel, symbolizing 'pulling together.'

Stepping inside, you discover a hidden world. Thousands of bamboo stalks stand at the center, making you feel as though you’ve entered nature itself—the green bamboo and gentle breeze are refreshing and uplifting.

Along the outer ring, some photography works are on display, mostly depicting Guangzhou’s natural ecology—a perfect fit. Touring the gardens while appreciating these fine shots is a rare experience in the heart of a bustling city.

This year's expo includes exquisite garden displays from Guangzhou's 11 districts, garden zones from five cities in the Greater Bay Area, and also bamboo eco-culture exhibits from six Southeast Asian countries along the Belt and Road.

Each year, the Guangzhou Garden Expo is full of highlights. Visiting such splendid garden creations for free is a visual treat and a dialogue between the soul and beauty.

The colorful Haixinsha Island reveals a rarely seen side. Dressed up in its finery, it softens the city's rough edges, making it friendly and approachable.

Awakening lions, red lanterns, Chinese knots... they complement the skyscrapers of Zhujiang New Town perfectly. The blend of tradition and modernity gives off a truly 'Chinese style.'

Although the Haixinsha expo has drawn to a close, spring is just beginning. Her footsteps are getting closer, and her enchanting silhouette will only grow more captivating.

As spring deepens, why not head outdoors with loved ones and soak up the cozy warmth?
