In summer, of course we should take the kids out to enjoy the beauty of sunshine, and share happy summer moments with them! But places that are too hot can always be a hassle, so Guilin is a good choice. Here, the mountains are clear and the waters are beautiful, and even the sunlight seems fresh and gentle. We chose the summer camp at the Guilin Shangri-La hotel, both because we've always trusted the quality of Shangri-La hotels, and because we heard that the latest episode of "Running Man" was filmed here. Going with the kids to see where Running Man was filmed and checking in was a great idea.

Travel Tips: The most convenient way to get from Guangzhou to Guilin is definitely by high-speed rail. From Guangzhou to Guilin, the high-speed train takes just over two hours, very convenient. And Guilin Shangri-La is quite close to the train station, only about a 20-minute drive away.

Hotel Facilities: As an internationally top-tier brand, the quality of Shangri-La is naturally excellent. The hotel occupies a huge area, with an outdoor garden, and you can see the Li River directly from the hotel, along with the uniquely elegant mountains of Guilin.

We booked an Executive Mountain View Balcony Room on the second floor. The room is very spacious, and even a family of four would not feel crowded. The bathroom features a wet-dry separation design, very convenient. It also has a large bathtub, where you can soak comfortably at night.

Of course, the biggest selling point of the room is the large balcony. You can step directly onto the balcony from the room and see the distant green mountains and clear waters, with the Li River flowing right in front of you—the scenery is exceptionally beautiful. Especially at dusk, you can watch the sunset here—a beautiful sight that shouldn't be missed every time you visit Guilin.

Various room desserts are provided daily, exquisitely made, perfect as afternoon tea or a light evening snack.

Parent-Child Activities: Of course, bringing kids to the summer camp means various fun parent-child activities are essential! To give children a better summer camp experience, Shangri-La has also invited professional summer camp instructors to lead the kids in all kinds of interesting activities.

Tai Chi Breakfast: Tai Chi requires movement and breathing coordination. With each inhale and exhale, combined with various movements, the body stretches and exercises. Shangri-La has invited professional Tai Chi instructors to come to the garden every day to lead parents and children in Tai Chi practice. Following the teacher to perform various Tai Chi moves and learn the routines, welcoming the morning light, will make the rest of the day full of energy.

After Tai Chi, enjoy a hearty breakfast—smooth Guilin rice noodles, rich freshly brewed coffee—always a great start to a vibrant day.

Small Animals & Farm Experience: Children can follow the summer camp instructors to the hotel garden to experience the fun of animals and plants. There's a small zoo in the garden with pigeons, peacocks, fish, and other small animals. Kids can get feed to feed these cute creatures.

The animals here seem used to children's visits; they're not afraid at all. They even snatch food right from the kids' hands—very amusing.

The small farm is fully organic. The vegetables produced here are also used in the hotel staff cafeteria, very eco-friendly. Under the guidance of the teacher, children can plant seeds they choose in planting boxes, then put up a sign with their name to identify their little hope. Maybe when they return later, they'll see these plants grown and bearing fruit.

Mini Train Garden Tour: The garden at Guilin Shangri-La is huge. If you want to tour the whole area, taking the mini train is undoubtedly the best option. The train is colorful and adorable. Riding the train, with its little bell ringing as it goes around the garden, is very cute. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery without having to walk—very relaxing.

Rock Climbing: Rock climbing is known as a sport for the brave. Climbing the wall requires courage, strength, and wisdom to find the right route. Here, kids can experience the thrill of rock climbing. Fastened with safety ropes, professional instructors ensure their safety and guide them on the climbing route, making it easier to reach the top.

Bamboo Pole Dance: The bamboo pole dance is a traditional Zhuang ethnic dance. The poles are knocked on the ground, and dancers jump among them, avoiding the poles in rhythm with the music, creating a fun dance. In the lobby of the Shangri-La hotel, every Friday and Saturday in August, Zhuang brothers and sisters come to set up bamboo poles and invite guests to join in this fun dance. Whether you get your feet caught depends on your reaction speed!

Movie Theater: Evenings with the kids are never boring. Every night, a movie is screened. On clear nights, Shangri-La sets up tents on the lawn and plays movies outdoors. Lying on the wide lawn under the starry sky watching a fun movie is a great experience. If the weather is bad, the movie moves indoors. The screening room has bean bag sofas; kids can lie on the floor or sit however they like, watching a movie in their most comfortable position.

Bumper Boats: In the hotel garden, besides the swimming pool, there is also a sizeable water pond. Staff can place cute bumper boats in the water for kids to drive freely. The boats have inflatable edges, so even collisions are completely safe, only bringing laughter.

Water Activities: At Shangri-La, there are indoor and outdoor pools. The indoor pool is a standard one, divided into shallow and deep areas. In the shallow area, kids can play happily. The deep area is suitable for those who can swim and want to exercise. The pool features floor-to-ceiling glass, offering views of the outdoors. Sunlight pours through the glass, giving the pool richer colors.

The outdoor pool is better for splashing. It's not deep, so even children can play safely. There are floating mats, lifeboats, and other fun equipment for kids to enjoy. While they play, I don't need to be idle. I can order an afternoon tea set, placed in a basket that floats on the water, making it easy to enjoy a delicious snack—very interesting.

Loungers are set around the pool—lie back and soak up the sun, a great option.

Ethnic Costume Garden Tour: Guangxi has many ethnic minorities, each with its own costumes and customs. Wearing ethnic minority clothing and strolling around the hotel is a fun experience. You'll encounter various scenes from the "Running Man" filming, and taking photos at these spots is very enjoyable.

Kids' Paradise: The hotel's children's playground has two floors. The second floor has a carousel, trampolines, and other facilities, and you can slide down a two-level slide to the first floor. The first floor is a large ball pit with colorful balls—a favorite for kids.

Parent-Child SPA: I've had many SPAs, but a parent-child SPA was a first. Shangri-La's SPA has always been one of the hotel's highlights, with excellent quality.

At Guilin Shangri-La, there is a parent-child SPA package, so you can bring your kids to experience it. Start with a comfortable bubble bath, then enjoy the therapist's skilled techniques amid the aroma of essential oils.

Essential oils combined with professional massage techniques relax the muscles wonderfully, and the fragrance also soothes the mind.

Cuisine: At Guilin Shangri-La, various food experiences are not to be missed.

Shang Palace: Shang Palace is the Chinese restaurant found in every Shangri-La. It is decorated in a classic style, very elegant. The Chinese dishes are exquisite, with local specialties modified for new flavors.

Beer Fish: One of Guilin's most famous dishes. Shangri-La's beer fish uses the hotel's own brewed beer, giving it a fresher taste while preserving the fish's original flavor.

Luohan Glazed Pork Belly: Made with Guilin's specialty luohan fruit (monk fruit) paired with braised pork belly—a very innovative method. The fragrance of the fruit infuses the pork, creating a rich flavor.

Other dishes are also very refined. The chef's skilled cooking and high-quality ingredients make every dish exquisite and delicious. Enjoying good food during a trip is a happy part of the journey.

Li River Coffee Buffet: The quality of Shangri-La's buffet needs no elaboration. The Li River Coffee buffet offers a huge variety, from fresh seafood to steak, roast chicken, and other meats. Special chefs are invited to prepare different cuisines, making every flavor delicious.

Poolside BBQ Dinner: In the evening by the pool, you can enjoy a rich and delicious BBQ feast. There is a wide selection of grilled items—oysters, large prawns, and other premium seafood—skillfully grilled by the chef to retain their natural sweetness; the oysters are tender, the prawns crunchy, very tasty. Various meats are also perfectly grilled, with just the right heat and seasonings, very appetizing. Watching the starry sky by the pool, enjoying a BBQ, or some fresh, sweet crawfish, with a cocktail or a cold beer—in a slight buzz, the pool becomes colorful and enchanting.

Time with the kids here for three days and two nights seems to pass especially quickly. Among these green mountains and clear waters, spending time together is happiness. And here, the air even seems sweet—a truly wonderful vacation experience for me.
