Guilin Zizhou Elephant Trunk Hill
Elephant Trunk Hill is not only cute in shape but also full of wonder. Between the elephant's trunk and legs, there is a natural archway, creating a 'Moon over the Water by the Elephant Hill' spectacle.
The Li River, with its scenery on both banks like a hundred-mile brocade gallery, no wonder everyone says, 'Rather than be an immortal, I'd rather be a Guilin native.'
Take a small boat to drift on the Li River. The peaks on both sides are graceful and winding, undulating. The riverbanks are covered with lush green grass and dense emerald bamboos. The river water is like green jade, clear and translucent. Fish swim leisurely, bamboo rafts float gently—all visible.
As night falls, cormorants perch on bamboo baskets to rest. The fisherman lights a lamp, and it seems the whole world becomes quiet. In the haze, those on the boat feel separated from the mortal world, far from the city's hustle, leaving only inner peace and tranquility.
Elephant Hill, the emblem of Guilin.
At the bottom of the water there is a bright moon; on the water's surface the bright moon floats.
The water flows but the moon does not leave; the moon departs but the water still flows.
The Song dynasty poet Jibei Chushi wrote in his poem 'Harmonizing the Rhyme of Water Moon Cave': ''
This poem depicts the most beautiful scenery of the Water Moon Cave vividly. On a night with a bright moon, people see the moon in the sky, the moon in the cave, and the moon in the water, reflecting each other, giving one the feeling of walking in the moon with water like the sky.
Silver Rock Cave is a typical karst landform, running through twelve peaks. It is a multi-layered cave, housing stalactites that have grown over different geological ages, crystal clear, pure white, like the Milky Way pouring down from the night sky, glistening with the brilliance of silver and diamonds.
The scenic area is like a huge natural bonsai, surrounded by mountains, with a hundred mu of peach trees scattered among them. Flowers and fruits fragrance in all seasons. The lakes and mountains, pastoral scenery enchant the heart, and it is also known as the 'Model of Poetic Home'.
It is named because the stalactites inside the cave sparkle like silver, and it is the newest and most beautiful cave in Guilin.
Silver Rock Cave: nature's uncanny workmanship.
Hundred-Li Gallery - Large Li River Cruise
Just as you must climb the Great Wall in Beijing and visit the ancient city in Lijiang, you must go to the Li River when in Guilin. The 'best under heaven' landscapes converge here. Karst landforms carve out the varied peaks on both banks, reflected in the mirror-calm river water, both graceful and full of ancient charm. Holding a new 20-yuan note and taking a bamboo raft to check in at the famous 'Nine Horse Fresco Hill' and 'Yellow Cloth Reflection' is a unique pleasure.
The soul of Guilin, its mountains and waters are the essence of Guilin's scenery, a must-visit attraction when coming to Guilin.
Experience firsthand the magical fairyland of 'Walking in the sky, sailing in a painting.'
The Li River is a typical karst area, known as the Hundred-Li Li River, Hundred-Li Gallery. The back design of the new 20-yuan note is a section of the Li River landscape.
Sun and Moon Twin Pagodas were once destroyed in ancient wars and later built in 2002. Reconstructed in 2001 on the foundation and ruins of a Tang dynasty Buddhist pagoda, they are located in the center of Guilin, on the central axis of the city, on Guilin Shanhu Island, adjacent to 'Elephant Hill and Water Moon.' Elephant Hill is the emblem of Guilin, while the Twin Pagodas are the symbol of new Guilin. The Sun Pagoda and Moon Pagoda, together with the Puxian Pagoda on Elephant Hill and the Shoufo Pagoda on Ta Hill, echo and complement each other, earning the saying 'Four Pagodas Equally Beautiful.'
The Sun and Moon Twin Pagodas are known as the number one copper pagodas in the world and are a night-viewing spot for Guilin tourism. The Sun Pagoda is 41 meters tall with nine stories, entirely decorated with pure copper, consuming 350 tons of copper, and has an elevator for tourists to ride.
Yulong River is the longest tributary of the Li River within Yangshuo, with a total length of 43.5 km and a drainage area of 158.47 square kilometers. It flows through 5 townships including Jinbao, Putao, Baisha, Yangshuo, and Gaotian in Yangshuo County, passing over 20 villages. It is known as 'Little Li River'—not the Li River but surpassing it. The peaks on both sides of the Yulong River are graceful and winding, undulating in myriad forms. The riverbanks are covered with green grass, dense emerald bamboos, and shady trees. The water of the Yulong River is like green jade, clear and translucent. Fish swim leisurely, bamboo rafts float gently—all visible. A gentle breeze sweeps the water surface, causing ripples, like notes played by a violin, quiet and soft.
