2 Days 1 Night Under 700+ RMB Per Person: Guilin & Yangshuo Travel Guide

Every year on the third day of the third lunar month, Guangxi always trends on social media. People get time off to go back and sing folk songs, and their super-long vacation makes so many envious. Although I can't sing folk songs, I still wanted to take a trip to Guangxi.

Day 1: Guangzhou Station - Yangshuo Station - Guilin Eternal Love - Yangshuo West Street; Day 2: Yangshuo West Street - Xingping Ancient Town - Guangzhou Station.

Our first stop was directly at Guilin Eternal Love, to watch a must-see performance of a lifetime. In Guilin Yangshuo, this is a time-travel portal through ancient and modern. We bought show tickets, and could explore the scenic area for free.

From far away, you can see the iconic Song Fairy Statue of the Eternal Love scenic area. Its gentle and beautiful appearance is unforgettable, just like the landscapes of Yangshuo—once seen, never forgotten. Along the Era Avenue leading to the scenic area stand totem poles, recording the past years of the Eight Gui region, full of ethnic characteristics.

If you want to see farther, you can go to the Jingjiang Prince's City Gate Tower, which is the best viewing platform in the Guilin Eternal Love scenic area.

At the Mo Tusi's Bride-Choosing Tower, there is a show featuring the throwing of the embroidered ball every day. You can also experience the Mo Tusi's tower bride selection yourself. If you want to be hit by a lucky marriage, remember to check the show times.

The beach at Lover's Harbor has many photo spots where you can take pictures freely.

The 3rd Secret Realm is a world that kids love most.

When hungry, go to Yangshuo Ancient Village inside the scenic area, which also has many food snacks.

When tired, sit in a bookstore, have some coffee, read a book, and rest for a while.

At every scheduled time, there are different performances and interactive games in the scenic area. As soon as the performers appear, the atmosphere becomes lively and joyful. I had a great time following the shows, and I have to say they are all extremely good-looking—each one is a pleasure to behold.

If you like strange things, don't miss the Odd Street, which has a haunted house, slant house, upside-down house, maze, and various weird buildings.

I was a bit scared of the haunted house so I didn't go in.

The slant house was a particularly fun place. Everyone who walked in started feeling dizzy, as if drunk. Then they began analyzing why they felt dizzy. It seemed everyone had a different opinion—some even said the house was shaking.

Walking straight along Odd Street leads you to Lover's Harbor No. 4. Along the way, there are many photo-worthy spots where you can take pictures freely. I never expected that amid Guilin's mountains and rivers there would be a white sandy beach—playing in the sand and sunbathing on the beach is also very fun.

It gradually got dark. We had booked the 7:30 PM show. In the evening, we entered the theater to watch the large-scale song and dance performance 'Guilin Eternal Love'. The entire show lasted one hour. This new form of presentation had spectacular visual effects—whether lighting, special effects, or music, everything was perfectly displayed, immersing the audience in a visual feast.

It recreated Guilin's historical culture and ethnic customs. We felt the beauty of Guilin's landscapes and traced the footsteps of Liu Sanjie.

The program included 'Ancient Call', 'Songs Flying Over the Earth', 'Rice Noodle Love', 'Jingjiang Prince's Mansion', and 'Liu Sanjie'.

The most touching was the second segment, 'Rice Noodle Love', which tells the story of Qin Shi Huang leading 500,000 troops south to conquer the Baiyue tribes. Qin Yingsao traveled a thousand miles to find her husband and stayed at Lingqu. After enduring countless hardships, she finally made rice noodles. While watching, the man sitting in the front row tightly hugged his wife and child with both arms~

After the show, you can stroll around the scenic area to enjoy the night view, which is also super beautiful. The scenic area closes at 9:00 PM.

After leaving the scenic area, you can head to West Street for a hearty meal. When in Yangshuo, you can't miss beer fish—it's everywhere. Just pick one you like. We went to Master Chef Beer Fish Shop No. 1, and the beer fish was really delicious!

The next day, we went to Xingping Ancient Town to take a stroll. Since we had to catch the high-speed train, we brought our luggage along. As soon as we got off the bus, we saw a place to store luggage (for a fee). After a quick look around, we decided to store our luggage. The scenic area also has a visitor center, but it doesn't allow luggage storage—only some shops or inns do.

Renting an electric bike plus luggage storage cost 25 yuan.

The streets of the ancient town are only a few hundred meters long, so we finished walking quickly. I recommend renting an e-bike for riding; with an e-bike, you can go farther to see the scenery outside the ancient town.

It only takes about ten minutes to ride from the 20-yuan note viewing platform to the Nine Horse Painting Mountain.

Right after the rain, Xingping was shrouded in mist and clouds among the mountains. Riding in such scenery felt like being in a fairyland.

This stretch is also the most essential part of the Yangshuo boat tour. After visiting, you'll understand why textbooks say 'Guilin's landscapes are the best under heaven.'

In Xingping, we spent less than 50 yuan to see the picturesque landscapes of Guilin—it was definitely great value.

After finishing Xingping, we could head back to take the bullet train back to Guangzhou. The two-day, one-night trip was very fulfilling—we saw a stunning performance and also enjoyed the beauty of Guilin's landscapes.
