Yangshuo Jora Hotel | A Precious Gift from a Beloved One
“There are sixpence all over the ground, but don't forget to look up at the moon.”
The inspiration for this hotel comes from Maugham's 'The Moon and Sixpence'.
Retreating into the pristine natural landscape,
longing to rediscover poetic dwelling,
this is an elegant lodging:
hope that every traveler who stays here
can explore more possibilities for spiritual enrichment and vacation lifestyles amidst the magnificent scenery of nature,
maintaining an elegant and calm curiosity when facing life,
and always holding fast to the aspirations of the heart.
The beauty of Guilin's landscapes in Guangxi needs no elaboration. Jora Hotel is located in Yangshuo, Guilin. The character “玖” (jiǔ) in its name comes from the “Wang Feng” section of the Book of Songs: “That beloved son presented me with a precious jade,” representing a precious yet understated gift; “壤” (rǎng) literally means the earth beneath our feet.

Yangshuo Jora Hotel
In the summer of 2021, the Jora Hotel, perched on a high mountain in Yangshuo, Guilin, quietly opened, offering a panoramic view of the entire Yangshuo county.
Avoiding the bustling tourist crowds and stacked shops, it offers a refined view of the market’s lively lights… The hotel faces the Li River to the west and looks eastward to one of the “Eight Scenic Sights of Yangshuo”—the morning glow of Dongling—where countless peculiar peaks stand in a forest, clouds and rosy clouds intertwine, and the scenery is boundless, attracting countless literati and poets throughout history.
The overall design of the hotel revolves around the concept and characteristics of “elegant dwelling,” combining cultural aesthetics with the local natural and regional charm. Through the “Jora Way,” it takes you on a poetic journey of returning to the heart and nurturing the soul.
Amidst the white walls and black tiles that resemble an ink-wash painting, the entrance corridor unfolds layer by layer, and the courtyard is ingeniously arranged with changing views at every step. Upon entering the lobby, serene music floats, and specially blended fragrances add a touch of understated elegance and tranquility to the space… From the macro to the micro, and through multiple sensory experiences of sight, hearing, and smell, everything illustrates the hotel’s low-key, refined elegance and realm.
Introduction of Five Room Types
The hotel has 35 guest rooms and suites, divided into five room types: Mountain View King, Family Twin, Premium King, Premium Twin, and Jora Suite—incorporating the Li River landscape of “The river is a green silk belt, the mountains are like jade hairpins” and the magnificent nature of karst landforms into the views.
Among them, the Mountain View King (8 rooms, 46 sqm) and Family Twin (8 rooms, 51 sqm) offer stunning views of sunset, evening clouds, and karst landscapes on clear days; the Premium King (5 rooms, 56 sqm) and Premium Twin (13 rooms, 56 sqm) have separate sitting areas and dressing rooms, providing more spacious and comfortable guest spaces.
Most guest rooms are equipped with Philips LCD TV, Dyson hairdryer, Acqua di Parma amenities, Consolato water, complimentary minibar (soft drinks, alcoholic beverages, snacks), Lorenzo Villoresi Firenze fragrance, Sealy mattress, Illy capsule coffee machine, Hansgrohe bathroom fixtures, Ting kettle, fully electric blackout curtains, 4 pairs of slippers (indoor & outdoor) and a pair of shower slippers, among others.
The hotel’s only Jora Suite (1 room, 140 sqm) is located on the top floor, featuring a private open-air star-gazing soaking pool and an excellent room layout and view. When the outdoor mist pours in, the stunning karst landforms resemble a huge classical Chinese painting, which will definitely make you want to delve deeper into the landscapes and natural scenery of Yangshuo.
Throughout the journey, you can feel that the hotel adopts minimalist and white-space design techniques, emphasizing the purity of materials; many areas also make exquisite use of raw stones, stone materials, wood carvings, and floral arrangements, allowing guests to immerse themselves and establish an intimate dialogue with the present moment, extending a deeper sense of texture.
Notably, the hotel also features several art installations, such as the mist ring in the meditation area called “Dance of Light and Mist” and the moon installation on the top-floor moon-viewing terrace (a scaled-down replica based on the “Moon Museum” created by British artist Luke Jerram), both very popular and attracting guests to take photos and leave mementos~
The hotel also places great emphasis on creating light and shadow aesthetics. Many areas use museum-grade lighting fixtures and effects, featuring a “see the light, not the source” arrangement, which, combined with the natural wood furniture and soft furnishings in each area, showcases a unique sense of sophistication and meticulous atmosphere.
At the same time, as a member of the Golden Keys International Alliance, the hotel’s attentive one-stop butler service runs throughout the guests’ experience from booking to departure.
Introduction of Special Experiences
In addition to the luxurious guest rooms and suites with views of the Li River, the hotel also features a restaurant, bar, private dining rooms, tea room, wine cellar, multi-function hall, as well as a meditation space, outdoor swimming pool, children’s playground, and other facilities.
Among them, the Shishan Restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner, focusing on high-end creative cuisine in Yangshuo and Guilin, such as Guilin rice noodles, fruitwood-smoked vinegar-blood duck, and Shishan fish—advocating a “green, healthy, and locally sourced” dining philosophy. No MSG or chicken essence is used in all cooking, following the natural flavors of ingredients; desserts are free of sugar and milk components, making them very friendly for lactose-intolerant individuals and those with strict body management requirements.
Jiu·Bar is the hotel’s café and bar, offering pour-over coffee and a variety of signature cocktails, whiskey, and afternoon tea, allowing guests to enjoy drinks and relaxation in a highly private and stylish space.
For business banquets, family gatherings, and high-end private parties, the hotel also has the “Guanye” private dining room (seats ten) and a multi-function room, introducing nature indoors in the form of seasonal albums, allowing guests to perceive the changing scenery of the seasons while dining.
In your leisure time, you can also experience the leisurely time of “Zen and tea are one” in the Kongyi Tea Room, which selects rare teas from all over the country. The elegant sense of space, exquisite flower arrangements, and carefully chosen tea sets allow guests to fully shed the heavy burdens of urban life here.
As the renowned writer Lin Qingxuan once said: “The true taste of tea, the true state of cultivating the mind, can only be known by an ordinary mind.” Drinking tea is not only a way of life but also an attitude towards life.
In addition, the hotel offers customized outdoor barbecue packages, handmade pizza experience classes, fun painting/sketching, as well as local tour guides, shuttle service within Yangshuo county, and station transfers. Feel free to put on lightweight shoes, bring a camera, and head to the Ten-Mile Gallery, Yulong River, or Xianggong Mountain; or cycle through rice fields, float down the river on a bamboo raft towards the green karst peaks; or shop for souvenirs in the characteristic Yangshuo West Street, listening to the distant opera tunes echoing in the air~
