Hawaii Oahu (Honolulu) -- A Vacation Paradise
Hawaii Oahu -- Honolulu, absolutely a vacation paradise. Compared to the monotony of the Maldives, life here is much more colorful. Besides sun, sand, and sea, there are designer stores, fine dining, outlets, historical sites, and various parks. You can also run, hike, snorkel, surf, and more. Even visiting multiple times won't bore you.
Five years ago, what I remembered most about Honolulu were the garlic shrimp and snorkeling at Hanauma Bay. Unfortunately, I didn't get to hike Diamond Head.
**Important tip: Papaya in Hawaii is delicious, but it is not allowed to be taken out of Hawaii, not even to the mainland US. So make sure to eat plenty while in Hawaii. Supermarkets like TARGET and COSTCO sell them.
Hanauma Bay is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. To protect the marine environment, I searched for another great snorkeling spot, Kuilima Cove Snorkeling. Although the waves far out were strong, the cove is sheltered by several reefs, creating a natural snorkeling haven. Nearby is Turtle Beach. I didn't find any sea turtles on the shore yesterday or today, but unexpectedly encountered them while snorkeling.
Diamond Head, a volcanic crater, is not too difficult to climb. It takes about 40 minutes to reach the summit observation deck, offering a stunning view of Waikiki.
To visit Diamond Head, you need to make an online reservation, preferably at least 3 days in advance. Arrive at the reserved time, and you can come 20-30 minutes early.
