Half-Day Tour of Kyoto Shrines Before the Pandemic in May

Kyoto has different beauty in different seasons. I recall the time two years ago when I visited shrines and gathered with my girlfriends here...

Fushimi Inari Shrine – Kiyomizu-dera – Jishu Shrine – Kamo River

Transportation: Take JR Nara Line to Inari Station and you're there.

Take Keihan Electric Railway Keihan Main Line to Fushimi Inari Station, then a 5-minute walk.

Take the bus to Fushimi Inari Taisha-mae, then a 7-minute walk.

JR Kyoto Station by bicycle: 12 minutes.

If you plan to visit the shrine (better to go in the morning) and climb to the summit, wear comfortable shoes. On a sunny day, you may be lucky enough to see the sunset from the top. There are vending machines and tea houses along the way where you can rest. The round trip to the top takes about 2 hours. By the way, climbing to the summit is free all day.

There is an old street near the shrine that is nice to explore.

Transportation: Take a bus from Kyoto Station to Higashiyama-jo, then a 10-minute walk.

Take a bus from Gion Shijo Station to Kiyomizu-michi or Gojo-zaka, then a 10-minute walk.

Kyoto Station by bicycle: 12 minutes.

Opening hours: 6:00–18:00

Summer: 6:00–18:30 (July and August)

Admission: Adults: 400 yen

Children: 200 yen

It was under renovation in 2018, and reportedly it should be completed by the end of this year.

En-musubi – Those who seek a good match know this best.

Transportation: Take a city bus to Gojo-zaka or Kiyomizu-michi, then a 15-minute walk.

The banks of the Kamo River are a great place to clear your mind. Here you can slow down and appreciate life.

At Hanamikoji Street, if you're lucky, you may encounter a real geisha!

After finding a meal, return to Tokyo~
