The Westin Miyako Kyoto Annex 'Kasui-en'
The Westin Miyako Kyoto is nestled against Mount Kachō, one of the thirty-six peaks of Higashiyama, and covers an area of 55,000 square meters. Besides its exquisitely decorated restaurants and guest rooms, it also features a sukiya-zukuri style annex called 'Kasui-en'.
Walking up from the Western-style European architecture, one can stroll into an elegant traditional tea room space. Within the unique geographical setting of Mount Kachō, the fusion and interplay between the gardens crafted by the Ogawa Jihei family of garden masters and the modern architecture of Murano Tōgo is the greatest charm of this serene space.
In 2020, the Kyoto Westin celebrated its 130th anniversary, and this historic hotel underwent a comprehensive renovation. The restaurants and guest rooms, designed under the theme 'The Queen of Elegance,' have already grandly opened. In spring 2021, a 2,000-square-meter hot spring spa will open to guests, allowing them to enjoy the beauty of the gardens and the natural atmosphere of Mount Kachō from a semi-open-air bath. Mr. Murano Tōgo, taking advantage of the undulating terrain of Mount Kachō, gave the exterior, corridors, and living rooms a vibrant sense of rhythm. At the same time, by expanding two rooms into one and increasing the room area, guests can enjoy comfort and warmth in a spacious setting.
Each room in the hotel is equipped with natural hot springs, providing guests with time and space to relax both body and mind. The attention to detail at Kasui-en ensures that guests' stays are filled with surprises and delights.
