Must-Visit Attractions on a London Art Tour: Ranger's House - The Wernher Collection
When visiting London, the British Museum and the V&A Museum are not the only great places to appreciate art. The Ranger's House - The Wernher Collection, which houses over 700 artworks from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, is also a must-visit attraction on an art tour.

Located on the edge of Greenwich Park, Ranger's House is an elegant Georgian-style villa built of red brick. Constructed in 1723, it served as the residence of the Royal Rangers who guarded Greenwich Park, and was used by aristocrats and members of the royal family until 1902. Since then, the building has undergone multiple restorations and served various purposes, eventually becoming the Wernher Collection—a repository for hundreds of world-class precious artworks collected by 19th-century diamond magnate Julius Wernher.

With over 700 artworks, the collection is considered one of the greatest surviving private art collections in European history. Its quality and artistic range are outstanding, including medieval sculptures, exquisite enamels, opulent jewelry, Renaissance paintings, bronzes, silverware, as well as 18th-century French furniture and English portraits.

Many of these works are not only unique in their type, but they also reveal, through their own stories—how they were made, where they have been, and how they were used—how European material culture changed and evolved over centuries.
Every piece here can be described as exquisite. Stepping inside feels like entering a palace of art, offering endless inspiration and imagination.
