Located in the western suburbs of London and designed by the 3rd Earl of Burlington, Chiswick House and Kitchen Garden is one of the most brilliant examples of British architecture and landscape gardening. Today, over one million visitors come here each year to enjoy the garden wonders.

Built between 1726 and 1729, the villa sits within 65 acres of beautiful gardens and is one of the earliest and most important Neo-Palladian villas in England. At the same time, the unpruned hedges in the garden, the gently sloping lawns winding toward the lake and waterfall, together with the central house, form a complete and complementary artistic treasure, giving the site its original character.

In the late 18th century, the 5th Duke of Devonshire, who took over the house and gardens, carried out a series of major renovations. These included building a classic stone bridge over the lake, demolishing the earlier Jacobean house, and adding new wings to the villa, transforming it into a solid mansion.

Beyond being an elegant classical residence, the house — with art and culture at its core — also served as a stunning collection room. It provided a refined setting for the paintings, specially designed furniture, and souvenirs that the Earl of Burlington collected during his travels in Europe. Therefore, when visiting here, you can not only learn about the history of the house, marvel at the 18th-century architecture and ornate decoration, but also view a wealth of master paintings and admire the magnificent interior decoration designed by William Kent.

After passing through the gallery room, you can explore the very beautiful area beyond. The historic kitchen garden still grows fruits and vegetables today. In addition, you can see impressive garden structures and statues that are hundreds of years old.
