Here's How to Have Fun in London on a Budget!
Actually, you can have fun in London like this! (Budget version)
😺 My first impression of London was so expensive! Transportation alone costs about £100 a day, accommodation at least £1000, not to mention meals, sightseeing, etc.!
In fact, break the information gap, it's not that 'expensive'. Today I'll teach you how to play!
🚇: I've shared before about taking the tube in London. You can buy a one-day travel card. For a deeper exploration of London, buy an Oyster card. The daily cap is just £5, ride anywhere!
🏡 You can find short-term rental apartments from international students! That saves a lot!
Or homestays. It's recommended to stay in Zones 1 or 2 – safe and close to the city center.
Some 🆓 attractions, great for photos and shopping:
1️⃣ Big Ben + London Eye
If the weather is good, go at 5-6 PM to take photos! Absolutely beautiful.
2️⃣ British Museum + National Gallery
At the British Museum, if you don't have a reservation, you can join the queue at the back door. If you don't have a bag, you can enter directly. For the National Gallery, you need to book in advance on the official website!
3️⃣ Notting Hill Citywalk
Visit Jay Chou's MV filming location, the filming site of the movie Notting Hill, and London's famous vintage shop collection area.
4️⃣ Sky Garden
Panoramic observation deck, overlooking The Shard, River Thames, Tower Bridge, etc. It's London's highest public garden observation deck.
5️⃣ Tower Bridge exterior
6️⃣ Artistic neighborhood Marylebone + Hyde Park – this is my favorite place for street photography. There are tons of treasure shops, great for photos. After strolling the neighborhood, you can also go to nearby Hyde Park to feed the swans!
Attractions worth spending money on:
Two churches worth visiting in London:
1️⃣ Westminster Abbey and St. Paul's Cathedral
Westminster Abbey is the final resting place of many great figures – Newton, Hawking, royal family members, etc.! It is also the largest Gothic church in the world.
2️⃣ St. Paul's Cathedral: One of the five largest churches in the world, Baroque style, with beauty at every step. It has the second largest dome in the world, and St. Paul's is great for photos!
Hidden spot: Reflection Garden
3️⃣ Thames River Cruise
Recommended at night, when the lights come on – it's very beautiful. Departure points: Tower of London, Tower Bridge, Westminster, London Eye, Greenwich Pier.
4️⃣ Hop-on Hop-off Bus Tour
The hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus takes about two and a half hours and basically covers London's attractions: Tower of London, Westminster Abbey, London, Tower Bridge, Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square. Essential for lazy travelers – sit on the top deck!
You can go inside Tower Bridge to visit the engine room and learn about its history.
🎫: £13.4
Ps Money-saving tips!
Buying from the official website or some online stores is not only expensive but sometimes you might find no tickets available. Actually, you can buy a London Pass on Go City, with options for the All-Inclusive Pass or the Explorer Pass. Saves a bit, haha.
London on a budget can still be a great trip! I'll share more in the future!
