This summer, Hôtel de Crillon, A Rosewood Hotel, is joining forces with THE SKATEROOM, a platform where art, skateboarding, and social change meet. The collaboration elegantly weaves together Rosewood’s long-standing commitment to creativity and community with the dynamic energy and transformative power of skateboarding, offering a truly unique art experience.

The inclusion of skateboarding as an official Olympic sport marks a milestone in global sports history, and it is the very inspiration behind this cross-disciplinary partnership. Rosewood Hotel Group is honored to promote this emerging sport in a playful and artful way at its iconic Hôtel de Crillon. Running from June 18 to September 14, the exhibition is creatively directed by Sarah Andelman, founder of Just an Idea and a key figure in Parisian fashion and culture, and curated by architect Aline Asmar d’Amman, founder of Culture in Architecture. The selection of works is overseen by THE SKATEROOM. Visitors can discover art installations across the hotel lobby and the former Palais Royal site, with some pieces also displayed in selected suites, offering an immersive and singular experience.

During the exhibition, Hôtel de Crillon presents skateboard works from THE SKATEROOM’s collection by artists such as Cindy Sherman, Juergen Teller, Jenny Holzer, Ai Weiwei, Jeff Koons, and Andy Warhol. Additionally, a limited-edition Rosewood X THE SKATEROOM series created by French artist Inès Longevial is featured. Known for her elegantly styled and color-rich Impressionist paintings, Longevial’s work is available for purchase at €185 for a single board and €500 for a triptych, with 10% of sales donated to THE SKATEROOM’s social partners.

About the Artist Inès Longevial

Born in Agen, France, and now living and working in Paris, artist Inès Longevial is represented by the Almine Rech gallery. From childhood, she devoted herself to art, studying Picasso and Matisse through her family library and later earning a master’s degree in fine arts in Toulouse in 2013. A self-portrait enthusiast, she explores the human body with richly poetic and colorful strokes. Described as a “sensitive artist,” her practice often transcends painting. Over the years, Longevial has focused on close-up facial portraits, finding a particular beauty in scratched surfaces—akin to the effect achieved on skateboards. Through her collaboration with THE SKATEROOM, her illustrations come fully to life in creative partnerships. As Longevial shares: “I am so touched and inspired by the way THE SKATEROOM and Hôtel de Crillon are pairing their ongoing commitment to philanthropy.”

“We are delighted to showcase this new project in a playful and artistic way at the iconic Hôtel de Crillon. The Olympics symbolize unity, bringing a city—and the world—together, and skateboarding embodies that Olympic spirit perfectly. Skateboarding is inseparable from creativity, innovation, a thirst for experience, and community. Its diversity gathers like-minded people in a vibrant, life-affirming way,” says Joanna Gunn, Chief Brand Officer of Rosewood Hotel Group. “This summer, Rosewood and Hôtel de Crillon team up with THE SKATEROOM to reveal the captivating charm of skateboarding, art, fun, and community to our guests.”

“I’ve worked with THE SKATEROOM since their early days at colette. Skateboards are such cool canvases, and I’ve always been fascinated by the interplay between artists and skateboards. I’m honored to bring THE SKATEROOM into Hôtel de Crillon; with Place de la Concorde transforming into a skate park this summer, this collaboration is a match made in heaven. I also love how Aline has infused her elegant creativity into the skateboards, adding a unique artistic touch to this historic landmark,” says Sarah Andelman, founder of Just an Idea.

“The storied interiors of Hôtel de Crillon carry tales of past and future, blending an 18th-century historic building with the refined art of French living. These walls have witnessed fashion and untamed spirit, and they continue to celebrate moments of joy in unexpected ways. Thanks to Sarah Andelman’s remarkable vision and clever design, the collaboration between Hôtel de Crillon and THE SKATEROOM unfolds with a power all its own. I’m delighted to see Inès Longevial’s skateboards enter a playful spatial dialogue with the Palais’s iconic interiors, melding Marie-Antoinette’s graceful fearlessness with feminine tranquility. Juergen Teller’s portrait of Michèle Lamy radiates a rock-star aura in the Duc de Crillon suite, while Jules de Balincourt’s bold use of color makes his landscapes leap from the lobby canvas, echoing the skateboard art and surprising guests in unexpected corners,” comments Aline Asmar d’Amman, the architect behind Hôtel de Crillon’s recent renovation.

“We are deeply honored to partner with THE SKATEROOM, with whom we share values that bridge lifestyle, sports, and philanthropy. Hôtel de Crillon, as ever, moves with the times, constantly reinventing itself and embracing the present. In summer 2024, all eyes will be on Paris, and it’s vital for us to be part of this global celebration and to continue witnessing Paris’s historic moments,” says Vincent Billiard, Regional Vice President of Rosewood and Managing Director of Hôtel de Crillon.

“I’m thrilled to be working with our dear friend Sarah Andelman and the iconic Hôtel de Crillon this summer to celebrate art, skateboarding, and social change. I’m very excited to showcase works by incredible artists within the palace’s sumptuous rooms, all carefully curated with Aline Asmar d’Amman. The exclusive collection with the talented Inès Longevial—and our long-standing partner Almine Rech—is the icing on the cake, a sublime creation marking this truly special moment,” says Charles-Antoine Bodson, founder of THE SKATEROOM.
