7 Major Charms of Hoshino Resort Tomamu, the Hottest Family Resort in Hokkaido in 2021
TOMAMU, under the Hoshino Resorts Group, which has been attracting attention in Japan, sets new visitor records every year. It has its own characteristics in spring, summer, autumn, and winter. If I had to describe it in a four-character idiom, I would say it is a paradise.
The Hoshino Resorts Group can be said to be a 5-star large-scale resort village created by a collaboration of multinational operators. It can be described as an upscale Instagram-worthy destination. Located in Shimukappu, Hokkaido, the nearest station is JR Hokkaido Sekisho Line's Tomamu Station. Accommodation costs roughly 2,000 to 4,000 RMB depending on the content. Friends can search the official website, which offers services in multiple languages, very convenient.
In addition, the new hot spring inn, Hoshino Resorts KAI Poroto, in Shiraoi, Hokkaido, scheduled for completion in January 2022, is also highly anticipated. All rooms offer lake views, and there is a rare plant-based hot spring. It originates from peat and subcoal layers formed by coniferous plants accumulated over 15 million years. Such springs are extremely rare worldwide. Since the inn is located next to the Ainu National Museum, which opened in July 2020, the facilities incorporate indigenous culture, making it a unique and charming hot spring inn.
Back to the main topic, let me first introduce the 7 major features of Hoshino Resort Tomamu.
① Enjoy skiing to the fullest.
② Ice Village – a world of ice and snow.
③ Enjoy an ice concert.
④ A beach-like indoor pool.
⑤ View the sea of clouds.
⑥ Open-air dining experience with outdoor cooking.
⑦ Hot air balloon flight challenge.
The first way to enjoy Hoshino Resort is skiing. There are 29 ski slopes right next to the accommodation, allowing you to ski various routes. Midway up the mountain, there is a place called Firefly Street, like a shopping center, where you can enjoy food and shopping while wearing ski gear and carrying your snowboard.

From May to October, the sea of clouds is open for a limited time. Since it can only be seen in the morning, you need to wake up early and dress warmly. There is a café on the mountain, so you can enjoy a mysterious sea-of-clouds coffee. Of course, winter also has a different scenery, with a night lighting ceremony. In summer, you can experience outdoor cooking at Hoshino Resort. Camp in the vast nature, use a Dutch oven to roast vegetables and cook dishes. Return to nature.
There is also a nearby farm, where you can play with lambs for free, swing on swings, lie on grass beds, and enjoy delicious ice cream and milk.
This is also a summer activity, but you can experience a hot air balloon during a limited period from May to October. Hot air ballooning requires good natural conditions and a large open area; otherwise, it can't operate. You can experience a unique floating sensation that will be the most special memory of your life.
