Travels in Japan (1): Hokkaido, Tokyo.
Time flies. My child is about to graduate from elementary school. The COVID-19 pandemic has been raging for almost three years. This entry is a record of my most recent trip to Japan during the summer vacation of 2019. We went to Sapporo, Otaru, Biei, Furano in Hokkaido, and the famous Hoshino Resorts' Tomamu Hokkaido. The last few days were in Tokyo (National Museum of Nature and Science and Tokyo National Museum).
At the check-in counter of Spring Airlines at Pudong Airport in 2019. There were really a lot of travelers at that time, and no one was wearing masks. (Spring Airlines was at Pier A on the easternmost side of T2; their check-in counters were the busiest back then.)
Arrived at New Chitose Airport in Hokkaido.
Heading to the hotel near Sapporo Station.
On the way to Otaru.
Otaru Music Box Museum.
Otaru's sushi and the must-visit Otaru Canal, a product of the pioneering era.
Let's go see the countryside of Hokkaido: Biei โ Furano Farm.
Breakfast at Sapporo New World Hotel.
Next stop: Shiroi Koibito Park.
Ready to go to Tokyo... One more bowl of Hokkaido ramen.
Akihabara in Tokyo is truly a paradise for electronics and figurines.
Kawagoe near Tokyo, not a time travel. Hehe, little Kyoto.
Learn from Uncle Goro, point at the menu on the wall to order. A bit like the hole-in-the-wall eatery in "Solitary Gourmet."
My daughter's first shrine visit. There were so many people before the pandemic. I dare not think back now.
Tokyo Daiichi Hotel in Shimbashi.
Cheers!!!
Tokyo Daiichi Hotel in Shimbashi.
In the distance is the Tokyo Tower.
Stopped by the Tokyo National Museum (Three Kingdoms exhibition from China). And the National Museum of Nature and Science (Dinosaur special exhibition).
Traveling is a way to relax and find happiness, but the most important purpose of travel is to broaden one's horizons and enrich one's experience. It has been three years since my last trip to Tokyo. I hope the pandemic will end soon. There will be plenty of time ahead! Reflecting in March 2022.
