What Cosmetics Are Good at Korean Duty-Free Shops? Unlock the Most Complete Travel Guide to Insadong, Seoul
Girls in their twenties, in their spare time, do they enjoy eating, drinking, and having fun with their besties? Of course, there’s also fandom, discovering beauty products, watching dramas together, and other activities. My bestie and I are die-hard K-pop fans, so Korea is a must-visit. You can eat, play, take great photos, and buy your favorite beauty products—it’s incredibly appealing to us. Having visited many times, we’ve accumulated quite a bit of experience and tips. I’ve heard that many friends are still wondering what cosmetics are good at Korean duty-free shops. Today, I’ll share how to spend a day in Seoul happily and hassle-free.
Many friends take short holidays or weekends to come to Korea, so they have limited time. That’s why you must go to the most worthwhile places. My first recommendation is Insadong, which I fell in love with on my first trip to Korea years ago. Among its attractions, my favorite is Ssamziegil, which I visit every time I’m in Korea.
Here, you can buy many small items with Korean characteristics—a perfect blend of traditional and modern styles. Carefully selecting small trinkets as souvenirs or gifts is a great choice. It’s practically a must-visit spot for tourists.
Hello Insadong is a newly developed and constructed multi-cultural space in the Insadong area.
If Ssamziegil offers a glimpse of Insadong’s古朴 charm, then Hello Insadong showcases the brand-new appeal of Insadong that has been growing in recent years.
With shops, hotels, and cultural spaces, whether you want to shop or relax, you’ll find unique joy here. After one visit, my bestie and I were hooked.
For dining, you can also eat at Hello Insadong. I strongly recommend Going Mary, a magical restaurant that combines a convenience store and a snack bar.
At first, we thought it was a general store and went in, only to find we could order food. The décor and setup are very interesting, and the food tastes fantastic. After playing around Insadong, being able to enjoy delicious cuisine here is really wonderful.
The most important part comes last. For shopping, duty-free shops are the most hassle-free. Near Namsan, there is the famous Shilla Duty-Free Shop in Korea. The first floor has LV, Chanel, GUCCI, and other big-name boutiques, with well-known domestic and international cosmetics brands setting up sales counters in the center.
Among these, the most eye-catching is Jill Stuart. They have a very complete selection, such as the popular 5-color petal blush. The limited edition colors are so popular that they’re hard to get, but the other shades are beautiful and versatile. I got the gorgeous No. 5.
At that time, I also tried the newly launched primer, and the scent was amazing. I asked the staff and learned that this primer has the same fragrance as the body lotion and perfume. It’s amazing that cosmetics can smell so good—truly thoughtful of Jill Stuart.
Going up to the second floor, you’ll see even more cosmetics brands. I also picked up Estée Lauder’s foundation. Before, I didn’t know how to choose the right shade, but at the duty-free shop, you can directly test the colors—convenient, quick, and no worries about picking the wrong one.
I also added La Mer’s skincare products to my haul. After all, the prices at duty-free shops are really tempting. Perfume lovers can check out the third floor—my favorite brand, Bvlgari, is sold there.
In short, for eating, drinking, and having fun, go to the most beautiful and interesting places, like Insadong. For shopping, go to the most reassuring places—that’s duty-free shops. Now you don’t have to worry about where to play and what to buy in Korea, nor fret about what cosmetics are good at Korean duty-free shops. Have fun in Insadong, get great value cosmetics at the duty-free shop, and feel on top of the world.
