Though young people often complain about life's hardships, they never forget to find a sense of ritual in their tough days—and Korea's MZ generation is no exception. So for Korean youth, where are the must-visit places for local travel? Recently, Korean young people have fallen in love with immersive art exhibitions. After being worn down by exhausting work and study, a baptism of culture and art can recharge the soul! Particularly, the immersive light and space exhibition that has exploded in popularity in Korea has become a weekend hotspot for young Koreans.

Much like office workers and students in China, the living environment for Korean young people is also extremely competitive. However, their busy lives have not dampened their enthusiasm for weekends and holidays. Where do locals in Korea go for fun? Compared to traditional shopping-focused attractions, the newly trending spots emphasize cultural experiences. On weekends, many young people bring their families to watch professional baseball games, eat fried chicken and drink beer by the Han River—both relieving stress and gathering the family together. Seongsu-dong is also one of the most beloved spots for Korean youth, known as the gathering place for trendy, artistic young people in Korea. The cafes there have great style; you can sit in any one and enjoy a rare moment of relaxation. Yeonnam-dong, a serene and elegant area not far from the bustling Hongdae district, is also a famous attraction in Seoul. It offers plenty of cultural experience spots, blending trendy vibes with retro styles, as well as exquisite restaurants and cafes, making it easy to snap stunning photos for life.

A large number of young people are also keen on cultural and artistic leisure activities such as plays and art exhibitions. Among various types of exhibitions, immersive art shows are particularly popular. Especially the immersive light and space exhibition located on the basement level of the Walkerhill Resort Hotel. Unlike ordinary flat displays, the exhibitions in this space use advanced holographic imaging technology and high-tech light and shadow equipment to arrange artworks. This kind of immersive art exhibition stimulates all five senses of visitors, providing an immersive experience that enhances the resonance between the viewer and the creator.

Currently, the immersive light and space exhibition is showcasing themed works by two Spanish artists: one is the surrealist painter Dalí, and the other is the architectural genius Gaudí. The exhibition magnifies the works of these two masters and presents them to visitors in 4D through advanced technology, incorporating light, shadow, sound, and other elements, allowing visitors to easily grasp the emotions conveyed by the artworks. Taking photos in such a dreamlike space not only fills them with artistic flair but also adds a unique touch to their holidays. Moreover, there is a cafe on the upper floors of the building where you can enjoy views of Seoul through huge floor-to-ceiling windows—a perfect spot for sightseeing and photos!

The immersive light and space exhibition is conveniently accessible. Take Seoul Subway Line 2 to Gangbyeon Station, or Line 5 to Gwangnaru Station, then transfer to the hotel's free shuttle bus, which takes you directly to the hotel entrance. Operating hours are Monday to Thursday from 10:00 AM to 6:20 PM, and weekends extend by 50 minutes. Last entry is at 5:30 PM. Adult tickets cost 29,000 KRW. Tickets can be booked via kkday and naver, or purchased on-site.

These days, many young people also like to spend time on Jeju Island. Art lovers often visit the Secret Light World on the island, which also features immersive art exhibitions. Currently, the venue is showcasing "Lee Il-jong, Jungdo Jeju" by Korean painter Lee Il-jong, allowing visitors to truly experience the local customs and lifestyle of Jeju. Also on display is "Cézanne, Light of Provence" by Cézanne, the father of modern art, where you can experience the ever-changing colors and structures through Cézanne's style. The Secret Light World is open daily from 10:00 AM to 6:20 PM, with last entry at 5:30 PM. Tickets cost 18,000 KRW. For our friends from China, from February 5 to February 12, you can purchase tickets on Ctrip and enjoy a 20% discount. The tickets must be used by March 3, or they will expire.

As young people in Seoul continue to explore, the must-visit spots for local travel in Korea are constantly being refreshed. Today's youth place more emphasis on spiritual pursuits and prefer itineraries centered on cultural experiences. Discover fun and relaxing places alongside Korean youth, experience the charm of immersive art exhibitions at the light and space exhibition, capture the artistic moments with photos, and make your journey even more exciting!
