Dreamy Ocean Ball Pit and Super Thrilling Slides – A Perfect Family Destination in Shanghai!
Summer vacation, what to do with the little rascals? It's enough to give a mom gray hairs, especially this year, when we’ve all been cooped up at home for so long because of the overall situation. Baoyan Paradise (Chunshen Branch) just opened, so we decided to go give it a try. It’s an indoor playground of over 3,000 square meters, with an adventure castle, slide park, family-friendly restaurant and more – no need to worry about the blazing sun, no fussing over meals, and you can even bring the little brother along. So hassle-free.
【Things to note】
1. Non-slip socks must be worn at all times inside the park, for both adults and kids, so socks are a must (also sold in the park at RMB 10 a pair).
2. Whether you’re an adult or a child, always wear long sleeves and long pants on the slides to avoid scrapes. Dress the little ones in comfy clothes; bring a pair of long pants or long socks (not stockings) to change into for the slides. Dresses aren’t recommended. If long sleeves feel too hot, bring a pair of arm sleeves, or simply buy them in the park if it’s too much trouble.
3. Outside food is not allowed; there’s a dedicated family restaurant. You can bring water, preferably bottled or in a thermos.
【The Adventure Castle Playground – a world of pink ocean balls】
The Adventure Castle Playground looks like a cute ladybug floating in a pink world – wonderfully innocent and dreamy. Ocean balls hold an irresistible appeal for kids. When I saw the pink ocean balls in the Adventure Castle Playground, not only did the little one go wild, but this mom’s girlish heart was instantly hit too. There’s a polka-dot translucent slide, a spinning transparent slide, and a tiny slide hidden behind the ‘ladybug’ – just the slides alone can keep you entertained for ages! Next to it are toys perfectly suited for toddlers; the details are really well done. My little girl is an old hand at the Adventure Castle; she just let loose and went totally wild!!!
Little brother was a bit dazed on his first visit, but then he got so excited he became a happy blur!!
This pink Adventure Castle is not only super fun but also a perfect photo spot for adults and kids alike!
【The Slide Park is a real treasure trove】
Oh, the Slide Park at Baoyan Paradise is so addictive – it’s an absolute treasure trove. Naturally, slides with different gradients are the main attraction, and the maze-like climbing net layout is full of clever touches.
There was a slide with this gradient that my little girl was desperate to try; she wanted to take all four lanes in turns and over and over again. So thrilling – every time she slid down her heart would race, it was quite something!
Faced with a 45-degree slide, my little girl hesitated for a long time after I emphatically declared I was too scared to try, then gave up, saying next time she’d bring Dad along to play!
There’s a little slide tucked over to the side that my girl played on in all sorts of creative ways, proudly saying, ‘Little brother wouldn’t dare try this one!’ Kids who are a bit scared of slides can easily find other ways to play here and won’t feel bored at all! The design also lets adults weave through, so parent-child interaction is completely possible! And there are plenty of spots to take great pictures – the shots come out with a real atmosphere!
【The trampoline area has a transparent tunnel】
The trampoline zone is really appealing, the color scheme is soothing, and overhead there are two transparent tunnel sections with a lounge area in the middle – a stroke of genius. The lounge is filled with bean bags, large plush toys and all sorts of delicate little toys like cloth books and snap-together tracks. You can rest here when you’re tired; moms with a second child can play here with the little one while keeping an eye on the older one’s activities – very thoughtful design. With soft mats, kids who are used to napping can just doze off for a while! My little girl absolutely loved this spot, calling it a ‘mysterious and wonderful place!’
【Role-play zone, sand pit and more】
The props in the role-play area are exquisite and wide-ranging. Both my little girl and her brother loved it here, especially little brother, who couldn’t get enough of the push carts and kept pushing them back and forth!
The sand pit has very clean sand, and the little toys inside are bright and colorful, which kids really enjoy. When little brother saw his sister playing, he wanted to join in, but maybe because he’s still so young, his feet refused to touch the sand – he needed to be held! Come to think of it, when my little girl was his age she was the same; she wanted to play but couldn’t have her feet touch the sand!
We had lunch right inside the park, mostly Western food, with fresh juice and soft drinks available. Prices are reasonable. I recommend the tomato meat sauce spaghetti – it tasted great, and my little girl and her brother loved it.
Baoyan Paradise also has bumper cars, a merry-go-round, a pirate ship and more, plus a craft DIY area and a Lego wall. My little girl went off to paint, and her brother loved the Lego wall – they didn’t bother each other but stayed close by, which was lovely. There’s even a nail art station; if you’re only bringing one child, you can let them do a craft while you get your nails done beautifully!
The lockers at Baoyan Paradise can hold both large and small bags, and you can access them anytime without repeated deposits, which is really convenient. Of course, entering the park involves temperature checks and hand sanitizing!
Baoyan Paradise has many branches, each with different features. Friends can choose whichever is nearest. We’ve already promised my little girl that next time we’ll go to the Minhang branch and try out the water park!
