Singapore Travel Notes
A Notes:
1. When entering Singapore, it is prohibited to carry more than 20 cigarettes.
2. In Singapore, at food courts you need to clear your own table, return used dishes and utensils to the designated area, and wipe the table clean.
3. Chewing gum is absolutely not allowed in Singapore, and you cannot bring it into the country.
4. Download the Grab ride-hailing app; it is cheaper than hailing a taxi directly.
5. There are many money changers, but Indian money changers can be tricky. Make sure to ask about the exchange rate clearly, otherwise you may get ripped off.
6. It is cheaper to book flight tickets, hotels, and attraction tickets in a package on Ctrip.
7. Electronic payments are not widely accepted in Singapore. Food courts only accept cash, while large shopping malls accept WeChat Pay. Do not use VISA as it is not cost-effective; instead, ask them to swipe UnionPay to save on handling fees.
B Pure Fun Guide:
Depart from Shanghai at 8:20 AM on SQ827 โ arrive in Singapore at 14:10.
Return from Singapore at 16:40 on SQ836 โ arrive in Shanghai at 22:20.
It is recommended to stay at hotels around Bugis, as it is very close to all tourist attractions โ a taxi ride takes at most 10 minutes.
Day 1: Home country โ Changi Airport โ Check into hotel.
In the evening, you can go to Marina Bay to see the Merlion, Singapore River, and the Durian Shell (Esplanade). All are within walking distance.
Day 2: Sentosa Island, Universal Studios, S.E.A. Aquarium. Basically it takes a full day โ it's a paradise for children. To be honest, I'm not interested in these myself, so you'll have to explore on your own. Also, there is a Fantasy Island there, a seaside kids' club specifically for children aged 3-10.
Day 3: Morning: Suggested to go to Kampong Glam and Haji Lane โ they have local ethnic charm.
Afternoon: Go to the Flower Dome and Cloud Forest โ these are places I strongly recommend. I went there in 2016 and already thought they were beautiful.
Day 4: Food Tour: Morning โ go to Maxwell Food Centre in Chinatown. Their chicken rice is famous, and there are many snacks. Nearby is also Lau Pa Sat, but I've heard it now mostly does barbecue, not as diverse as 25 years ago. Still, it's worth a visit since it was very famous in the past. Evening โ head to Geylang Lorong 19, where frog porridge is locally famous. About 80% of Chinese tourists visiting Singapore go to taste it; Kung Pao frog is more delicious.
Day 5: Morning โ you can visit the National Gallery Singapore and the Old Hill Street Police Station (an Instagram-famous building).
At 1 PM, after checking in at the airport and checking your luggage, do not go through the immigration gate. Instead, go to Jewel Changi Airport to see the indoor waterfall โ it's stunning. Also, grab a meal at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, which is famous and tasty.
If you have nothing to buy, entering the gate at 3:30 PM should still be fine for your flight.
The above guide is purely my personal opinion. The main shopping street is Orchard Road; you can take a walk there in the evening. It's almost Christmas, so the decorations should be nice. There used to be an old uncle selling ice cream on the street there โ a local internet celebrity. Bread with ice cream or waffle with ice cream are both good. I don't recommend the zoo โ nothing outstanding about it.
