Zhouzhuang is a town woven from whitewashed walls, black tiles, little bridges, and flowing water – a classic Jiangnan scene of peaceful, rustic charm. There is always a sense of tranquility and calm here. If you have a soft spot for ancient towns, don't miss Zhouzhuang, where the essence of 'bridges, flowing water, and waterside homes' is perfectly captured. The 'Night Zhouzhuang' experience has also become one of its signature attractions.

In Zhouzhuang, as you stroll through the meandering waterways or turn a corner at a guesthouse, you'll often hear the graceful melodies of Kunqu opera, whispering stories of a slower pace of life. Walking through Zhouzhuang at night, 'the water town's nightscape is enchanting' – the ancient town under the night sky is especially alluring and captivating.

A new popular spot for photos, Flower Lane and Rain Lane, adds to the nighttime magic. All the way, 'blooming flowers' vie for beauty; all the way, 'drizzle' weaves brocade. Every step is a living painting, where poetic light and shadow interpret the charm of the water town. At one end of the lane, an arched water-curtain projection hidden among greenery displays a cascade of dazzling, multicolored flowers descending slowly with mist, complemented by floral projections on the ground – utterly dreamy.

The section from Fuhong Bridge to Zhenfeng Bridge features specially designed 'Flower Lane' and 'Rain Lane' cultural and creative light projections. Beneath the lights, a hundred flowers bloom, their starlike petals drifting down onto your shoulders, making you feel like a flower fairy roaming a sea of blossoms. Each unique projection offers a different sensory experience, giving the ancient town a fresh new look.

There is a saying: 'There is a life called Zhouzhuang.' But I'd add: Zhouzhuang has more than one kind of life.

When visiting Zhouzhuang, apart from exploring the ancient town, the village of Xiangcun • Qizhuang, hidden just outside the water town, is also well worth a visit. Here, you can experience another side of Zhouzhuang life!

Xiangcun • Qizhuang is located in Sanzhuhang Village, Zhouzhuang Town, Kunshan, Jiangsu, just 5 kilometers from Zhouzhuang Ancient Town. It is another shining star in Zhouzhuang's all-for-one tourism development. Building on the ancient town and extending the surrounding advantages, it follows the principles of 'respect, altruism, restoration, and integration' to develop rural tourism in an 'embedded' way. It presents visitors with the pastoral charm of an original water town village, offering homestay experiences that are both rustic and rich in local folklore.

Tucked away in the fields beyond the ancient town, Xiangcun • Qizhuang sits within an original Jiangnan water village. Here, idle village houses have been renovated and decorated according to themes from different decades, transforming them into countryside villas neighboring local villagers. Staying here, you can gaze at the starry sky, wake to the crowing of roosters and barking of dogs, pick fruits and vegetables, try your hand at crafts, go fishing or boating, or simply sit quietly lost in thought. This idyllic water village does its best to offer guests a sense of nature, comfort, and freedom – a true relaxation and return to the soul.

Nowadays, Xiangcun • Qizhuang, which combines leisure, accommodation, and eco-agriculture, has become a top choice for many rural tourism enthusiasts.

From the dazzling center of the ancient town to Qizhuang, the hustle and bustle of the city gradually fades away. The village is tranquil, the countryside beautiful, and the warm, friendly neighbors give Xiangcun its heartwarming character. Wandering casually among the cottages, you'll encounter a rural life quite different from city life. This kind of homestay culture also embodies the idea that 'there is a life called Zhouzhuang.' Come to Zhouzhuang, come to Xiangcun, and feel it for yourself.

Xiangcun • Qizhuang is weaving a pastoral water-town picture of time standing still. With roosters and dogs within earshot, and crisscrossing paths through the fields, life here is peaceful and serene, giving a sense of homecoming and enduring hope. The 'Vintage Show' themed homestays created by Xiangcun • Qizhuang bring rustic dreams to life. Each homestay represents a different era and a different kind of nostalgia.

Currently, there are 9 open homestay buildings with a total of 32 rooms (8 twin rooms, 24 double rooms, 3 duplex rooms), spanning rural family styles from the 1960s to the 2000s. All homestays are converted from former village houses.

In the 1980s-style homestay, a standalone two-story dwelling with a courtyard brimming with flowers and greenery feels like a secluded haven. In the living room, old leather suitcases; in the kitchen, a press-and-pour water flask and a traditional wood-burning stove; in the bedroom, a satin bed-end scarf... these details evoke memories of that era.

The 1990s-style homestay boasts a private courtyard, simple yet elegant. The building includes an independent living room and a fully equipped kitchen – perfect for a holiday getaway. With east and west courtyards, it can accommodate up to 11 guests at a time.

The 2000s-style homestay is the most recently built. Its overall décor is simple and tasteful, with plenty of natural light. The new Chinese style of white walls and grey tiles is a refreshing sight. A tea room, dining room, meeting room, and other multi-functional spaces meet various needs, from team-building activities to family gatherings.

Every homestay here is full of character, infused with the pastoral lifestyle of Xiangcun in every detail. Far from the city's noise, this is a place to shed travel weariness in comfortable rooms and indulge in a quiet, leisurely time.

Beyond the homestays, you can explore the bamboo groves for a touch of nature, or pick fresh produce in the fields. Harvest the fruit dangling from doorways and taste the flavor of the countryside.

With fertile fields and lovely ponds, seasonal fruit and vegetable gardens... strolling through the fields of Xiangcun • Qizhuang, freshly picked corn and radishes carry the freshness of the land, conjuring the taste of childhood on your tongue. The village's homemade pickles – pickled radish, multi-stemmed greens, tender ginger – are all unforgettable flavors and memories.

'Plucking chrysanthemums beneath the eastern hedge, tranquil, I glimpse the southern hills.' This scene is what so many people dashing through city traffic dream of – a return to a simple life in the fields.

Here you can savor authentic farmhouse cuisine, or cook it yourself, turning freshly picked vegetables into delicious dishes. You can also taste soybean milk you've ground with your own hands.

In the morning, the housekeeper sets out warm congee and simple side dishes, leaving more time for guests. The cozy, independent space becomes its own little world.

After breakfast, a walk through Xiangcun • Qizhuang reveals ever-changing pastoral waterside scenery. Passing the houses, trumpet vines climb over fences; amid the freely growing thickets, unexpected surprises await... At night, you can also enjoy the enchanting nocturnal views of the village. Or you might sit by the fields for a leisurely afternoon tea, fully embracing the slow-paced charm. It feels like a return to nature – isn't this the pastoral life that the poet Tao Yuanming retreated to over a thousand years ago?

Address: Xiangcun • Qizhuang, Zhouzhuang, No. 82 Sanzhuhang, Qibang Village, Zhouzhuang Town, near Zhouzhuang Ancient Town.
