By Taihu Lake, a brand-new B&B has just opened!

Seeing me this excited might surprise you, since after all, Taihu vacations for most people are just about lake views and fresh lake food—what new experience could there be?

But this time, I discovered something new at Taimei Xuelv B&B, and I'm sharing it while it's fresh.

🌟 First, let's look at the location of Taihu Xuelv.

About a 40-minute drive from Suzhou Railway Station, it's nestled between Yuyang Mountain to the left and Guangfu Town to the right, occupying a secluded spot by the lake with hills and water.

Although it's a little distance from the crowds, that means you get the serene lake and mountain views all to yourself. Being away from the hustle and bustle also allows for close contact with untouched nature, giving it an elegant vibe reminiscent of a star-rated hotel.

🌟 Next, let's check out the surroundings.

The overall color scheme is snowy white, and because it's set amid forests and mountains, it's named 'Xuelv' (Snow Green).

The buildings are simple square structures, with both single-level and duplex rooms, all featuring large scenic windows overlooking either the lake or the garden.

White buildings surround a landscaped courtyard where trees and flowers are arranged like a private garden. It's a setting that naturally radiates romance, perfect for a small wedding or a long-table dinner.

Normally, my biggest fear in a B&B is having a room where you can't relax, but at Taimei Xuelv, the layout is comfortable and practical, and the bedding and toiletries are hotel-quality, making you want to sink into the bed the moment you enter.

The common areas feature white and wood tones, accented with greenery and lighting that create a warm, inviting atmosphere. Many spots are so photogenic you'll be itching to snap pictures.

🌟 Now, let's talk about the food.

Even before opening, they prioritized the dining experience, knowing that with the B&B's natural setting, providing excellent meals is essential.

I had two big meals at Taihu Xuelv, and the menu was so varied I never repeated a dish. The restaurant focuses on local flavors inspired by Taihu boat banquets, using fresh ingredients with impressive selection, cooking methods, and taste that left a strong impression.

To be honest, the food here rivals many star-rated hotels, and among the B&Bs I've stayed at around Taihu, this one is outstanding. You won't have to worry about a thing when it comes to dining during a short stay.

Okay, after all my rambling, you're probably eager to know how I made the most of 24 hours at Taimei Xuelv! Here's my 24-hour itinerary at Taimei Xuelv—let's go!

If you're driving from Jiangsu, Zhejiang, or Shanghai, aim to arrive around noon so you can start with a feast, kicking off your vacation in a well-fed, contented mood.

After lunch, you can check in, then relax and enjoy the scenic views from your room. If the drive was tiring, it's a perfect time for a nap.

After your rest, head to the courtyard for the B&B's signature white-and-green themed afternoon tea. I'm especially in love with the cupcakes—I could eat three in one go! As for drinks, choose between coffee or Taihu Biluochun tea.

The Biluochun tea garden and fir forest on the hill behind the B&B are truly iconic! Among the many B&Bs around Taihu with lake views, having a vast forest as well is something I've only experienced here.

The path to the fir forest is a gravel trail, where your footsteps crunching underfoot blend with birdsong. In just a few minutes, you feel transported to another world—how to describe it? To me, it's exactly the legendary 'Enchanted Forest'!

My friend casually took a few photos of me here, and many on social media thought I was in Northern Europe! It's just that dreamy!

Years ago, Taihu boat cuisine was very famous. After environmental regulations, many restaurants moved from boats to nearby villages. If you don't feel like dining at the hotel in the evening, you can drive to the surrounding villages to explore these boat cuisine spots.

I went to Meimei Restaurant, which has been open for over 30 years. Though it's quiet now, the quality is still excellent, especially the freshness of the lake delicacies—definitely worth a try.

After dinner, what can you do at the B&B? You can play a couple of rounds in the game room, sing karaoke, or, like me, enjoy a drink at the bar, then drift off to sleep slightly tipsy to wash away the workday fatigue.

Next to the bar is a cigar room that's about to open. What will it be like? It shows that even though it's a B&B, it's full of life and atmosphere.

Some might ask if there's a gym. I'd say: no need! Just outside the window is a blue jogging path circling Taihu Lake, a paradise for runners. The annual Taihu Marathon is held here. Imagine jogging with lake views—how blissful is that?

For Suzhou locals, mornings start with a bowl of hot noodle soup. Here, breakfast includes red broth with deep-fried fish noodles, fruit, eggs, yogurt, and salad—simple and perfect.

After breakfast, linger over a cup of coffee, then head to the book bar to read or play chess—any way you like to lazily enjoy your final moments at the B&B.

For the last lunch, you can feast at the hotel restaurant again, or if you're feeling adventurous, try the local internet-famous Taihu noodle shop Shiba Jiao (Eighteen Toppings).

The highlight here is the 18 different toppings. You go to the kitchen, point out all the ones you want, and then enjoy the fun of mixing and matching toppings with your noodles.

All in all, one night at Taimei Xuelv is too short, two nights barely enough. For a truly relaxing experience, I'd say two nights and three days is ideal. If you have a longer holiday, with three nights and four days you can explore the scenic spots and historic sites in the nearby East and West Hills. For photography lovers, spending a full 48 hours at the B&B for a "Taimei" photo shoot is also a great plan.

In short, however you want to play, once you're here, it's all up to you!
