Solo Australia Part 24: Paddington Market

8-4 Today is Saturday, I have to go to the Paddington Market, which is only open on Saturdays. A few days ago on the weekend I visited the Rocks Market and fell in love with the Australian lifestyle. It’s like the rural markets in China where everyone brings out their proudest handiwork to trade—highly distinctive and unique.

Paddington Market has a long history, with its main venue around St. John’s Church. There aren’t as many stalls as at the Rocks Market, but the style is much more avant-garde and trendy. When tired from browsing, you can sit down for a coffee and enjoy some music. At the tarot card stall, I wonder what this girl is calculating or seeking.

After finishing the Paddington Market in the morning and having some food, I strolled leisurely along Oxford Street towards the tallest Sydney Tower back to the city center. Someone was getting married at St. Mary’s Cathedral, and they had rented a very special stretched Hummer and a vintage car. If this were in China, such an old car probably wouldn’t be allowed on the road. Then I returned to the city to transfer and head home, taking a quick stroll through the Rocks Market again. At the market, walking along the street, you can always see the Harbour Bridge at the end of the intersection—it feels amazing. On the weekend, Circular Quay has many folk artists. This one, it’s said, has been to China. Has anyone seen him?
