Ballast Point Park is located in Balmain on the western harbor of Sydney. The original site was the Caltex oil storage and production center on the shores of Sydney Harbour. Once covered with severely polluted sand and oil residues from the Industrial Revolution, it now displays a vibrant, enduring vitality.

On the opposite side, the Waterview Wharf Workshop is a popular Instagram spot. Five colorful houses, the quiet harbor, and the nearby Sydney Harbour Bridge create a unique Sydney landscape, earning it the reputation of 'Sydney's Copenhagen'. It shines among Sydney's many harbors.

The park provides citizens with pedestrian pathways, cycling tracks, and picnic lawns, along with beautiful views facing the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Tank 101 is a building that symbolizes the history of the working wharf on the park's site.

This land was once a seaside villa called 'Menevia', and later became a quarry for ship ballast stones.

Around 1920, Caltex became the new owner of this land and built a lubricant manufacturing plant here, which continued until 2002.

For this type of post-industrial land, whether to erase industrial traces and return the land to its original state, or to retain human intervention and make it an industrial heritage, Ballast Point Park offers a different answer.

Between 'erasure' and 'preservation', Ballast Point Park has found a balance. The leftover rubble tells the story of the land's history, while the planting strategy covers it with lush greenery.

The signage system is carved into the remnants of the quarry. The oil tank ring is inscribed with poetry by Les Murray. The dotted font is inspired by the quarry machinery in the park, full of an alternative artistic sense of the post-industrial era.
