Palm Beach in the Rain on Sydney's Northern Beaches
Palm Beach is located at the northernmost tip of Sydney's Northern Beaches. On the map, it appears as a long narrow peninsula shaped like a mushroom, with a width of only about 400 meters. Both the eastern and western sides are beaches, collectively known as Palm Beach.
At the tip of the peninsula is a hill nearly a hundred meters high, known as the famous Barrenjoey Headland. Here stands the historic Barrenjoey Lighthouse and the lighthouse keeper's cottage.
Because it had rained, the yellow sand turned brown after being soaked by the rain.
Locally, Palm Beach is called 'Palmy'. It is located at the end of a long peninsula, with ocean waves on one side and the tranquil Pittwater valley on the other. Sydney's wealthy are attracted by the golden sand and clear waters, building villa after villa on the lush hills nearby. But down on the beach, when you step onto the sand, the atmosphere is much more down-to-earth.
Due to the rain, we did not climb up to the lighthouse at the highest point and missed the panoramic view of Palm Beach. We only took a few photos by the beach. What a pity!
