First Impressions of Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR)
Top-tier universities always evoke boundless longing~ When youth, knowledge, and brilliant minds come together, how could they not shine brightly?
I once had the privilege of staying at EUR for a short time and am writing a short piece to record my fleeting impressions of this top European university.
Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), also known as Rotterdam University, is located in Rotterdam, the second-largest city in the Netherlands and the largest port city in Europe. It is a top Dutch university, a world-renowned public university, named after the famous medieval Dutch humanist thinker Desiderius Erasmus. It is a renowned comprehensive university in the Netherlands, focusing on economics and management while also being highly recognized in other fields. The school was founded in 1913, originally named the Netherlands School of Economics. It is a member of the League of European Research Universities (LERU) and UMultirank, and is regarded as one of the top universities in Europe.
The school's teaching quality and research level enjoy international acclaim, especially in the fields of economics, management, and business. It is considered one of the best business schools in the Netherlands and Europe, with its Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) regarded as one of the top five business schools in Europe and maintaining a leading position in global rankings. The school's medical school and public health school are also world-renowned educational and research institutions.
Due to historical and other reasons, the architectural style of Rotterdam (which has many quirky modern buildings worthy of a separate article listing Rotterdam's interesting buildings) is quite different from Amsterdam, featuring a strong sense of innovation and modernity. The buildings of Erasmus University are no exception. This building with a façade of glass and metal bars reflects the blue sky and white clouds, appearing modern and bright.
The school library is spacious, bright, and modern.
A corner of the library with full-floor-to-ceiling windows, outside which the autumn scenery is picturesque.
This building is a dormitory. Its exterior looks like a chocolate cookie with crushed nuts. The crowd on the ground floor consists of students gathered outside a bar, which is their social gathering place. Just chatting in the open air is quite interesting. A room here costs 6000 CNY per month. Not every student can secure on-campus housing; many live off-campus and need to bike or take a bus to school.
The campus is fully open, without walls, with beautiful surroundings and few people, giving a sense of tranquility.
