Traveling in Bali—Foodie Edition
After the driver picked us up, it took about 15 minutes to reach our first booked hotel. Since we arrived at night, we chose a transit hotel close to the airport.
In the morning, we had our first breakfast in Bali, a buffet breakfast included at the Vira Hotel. This hotel is considered a city 4-star hotel. It was quite good, not unpleasant to eat, with a wide variety of choices.
Our local guide picked us up on time as scheduled, and we set off for Tanjung Benoa (South Bay). The beach there was dirty, with a lot of trash. We started doing water activities and entrusted all our valuables to the local guide—he was quite handsome.
We then took a glass-bottom boat to Turtle Island. The beach on Turtle Island was very clean, with beautiful sand. On the island, we took photos with various animals.
After half a day of play, we were hungry. The local guide took us to a restaurant called Kemangi Hong Kong Seafood & Indonesia Food, with the Chinese name Lan Xiang Seafood Restaurant.
On the first day in Bali, we got to experience Balinese seafood—amazing! Their seafood was all fresh and live; we picked it ourselves, and everyone was busy enjoying the process.
I took photos of each dish. The taste was excellent, and the seafood they served was indeed fresh, with a great texture. Best of all, the price was not expensive.
After a pleasant lunch, we started our trip to Uluwatu (Lover's Cliff). Uluwatu is a temple; everyone entering must tie on a sarong out of respect for the spirits. There were many monkeys on the cliff; someone's sunglasses were snatched by a monkey and bitten all over. We had to pay a local to exchange bananas with the monkey to get them back. The sea at Uluwatu was beautiful.
We spent about an hour at Uluwatu, then went to Blue Point Chapel for afternoon tea. There is a famous glass chapel where many celebrities hold weddings, and the infinity pool is also well-known. We could take photos by the pool, but the chapel was off-limits.
After taking photos and relaxing for an hour, we went down to Jimbaran Beach to watch the sunset. We were lucky to see a very beautiful sunset. We had seafood barbecue; each type of grilled seafood was coated with a sweet chili sauce, which completely masked the natural freshness of the seafood.
We had a night flight, and we watched the sunset from the plane.
