Bali|Wandering Amidst Mountains and Waters: Bali's Little Elephant Hot Springs

🇵🇱Indonesia is the country with the most volcanoes in the world, with over 500 volcanoes, of which about 130 are still active.

🏝As one of Indonesia's most famous tourist islands, Bali also has six volcanoes, two of which are still active: Mt. Agung and Mt. Batur.

Since there are volcanoes, it goes without saying that there are also their perfect companions, nature's gift—volcanic hot springs.

🏖Bali's terrain is higher in the east and lower in the west, with volcanoes concentrated in the eastern and northern parts of the island. Therefore, hot springs are also concentrated in the Kintamani area as well as the Tabanan/Lovina area, with none in the south.

With so many hot springs, they have naturally become great leisure spots for locals and tourists alike. Locals tend to prefer small hot springs run by locals, mostly located in the woods with average surroundings, but they are cheap—about a dozen yuan per person. Tourists, on the other hand, prefer hot spring resorts with complete facilities. Toya Devasya, the Little Elephant Hot Spring Resort nestled in the Kintamani mountains, is one such resort.

Little Elephant Hot Spring is probably my favorite hot spring hotel in Bali. The reason it's called Little Elephant Hot Spring is that the theme here is purple little elephants, found everywhere in the park~

Compared to other local hot springs and hot spring hotels, it has several major advantages:

1️⃣ Cleanliness: Compared to the greenish pool water of local hot springs, the clean and clear water of Little Elephant Hot Spring is more reassuring. There are eight pools to soak in, plus an Olympic-standard heated swimming pool.

2️⃣ Great value for money: For just over 100 RMB, you can spend a whole day there. If you buy a ticket including a buffet, it's about 200 RMB. The buffet has a rich variety, mainly Indonesian cuisine, including drinks, snacks, and fruits.

3️⃣ Many recreational facilities: There are volcanic lake kayaking, banana boats, flying fish, jet skis, etc., as well as a camping tent area, a water play area (suitable for children, with various children's facilities), restaurants, water bars, an outdoor bar, SPA. If you want to stay overnight, there are villa suites with private hot springs, and the tent area also allows overnight stays—it all depends on your budget.

4️⃣ Great environment: Facing the volcanic lake and volcano, the staff are constantly cleaning the grounds. Even when it's crowded, it doesn't feel messy.

5️⃣ All activities are clearly priced and standardized, so no worries about being overcharged.

6️⃣ One of the most important reasons is that it's such a great place for photos. Several infinity hot spring pools facing Lake Batur and the volcano, paired with blue skies and white clouds, produce stunning shots in no time.

(Transport) Transportation Guide:

Toya Devasya (Little Elephant Hot Spring) is located in the Kintamani mountain area in central Bali. There is no public transportation. Usually, you take a chartered car. If you come from southern Bali, you can also visit Ubud Palace, Tirta Empul (Holy Water Temple), Ubud Rice Terraces, and the Kintamani Volcano viewpoint along the way.

(Location) Detailed Address:

Central Batur, Kintamani, Bangli Regency, Bali

Basically all drivers and locals know this place.

(Time) Business Hours:

7:00 AM to 7:00 PM (last entry at 5:00 PM)

If you stay overnight, you can still use the public hot spring pools after 7:00 PM.

(Cost) Per Person Expenditure:

👉 Day pass hot spring ticket: Adult ticket 300,000 IDR/person; with buffet, 400,000 IDR/person.

👉 Tent area ticket: Starting from 1,000,000 IDR (for 2 people, includes breakfast and dinner, public hot springs, overnight in tent area, etc.)

👉 Private hot spring villa area: Starting from 3,000,000 IDR (for 2 people, includes breakfast and dinner, public hot springs, overnight in private villa, SPA, etc.)

(📌) Practical Tips:

Since it's in the mountains, the temperature is slightly lower than in southern Bali. It's cooler in the early morning and evening, so you may want to bring a light jacket.

The cool temperatures can make you overlook UV rays; don't forget to apply sunscreen while soaking in the hot springs.
