The Unforgettable Blue – My Diving Trip to Wuzhizhou Island, Sanya

Can't make it to Bali or Pattaya, but I can still go for it at Wuzhizhou Island in Sanya!

This summer, I finally realized my "island getaway" dream and visited Wuzhizhou Island with my family. Here, we saw a truly top-notch coastline and got our diving fix. We didn't spend much, but the joy was immense. Let me briefly record our two-day, one-night itinerary.

- Sanya Wuzhizhou Island -

In peak season, hotels are hard to book, so we went for the scenic area's "Midsummer Diving & Coral Hotel Package." In addition to two admission tickets and a "pick one out of three" diving activity, it included a one-night stay in a garden-view room at Coral Hotel (with breakfast) – very good value.

Not wanting to be out on the sea under the blazing sun, we arrived at the island just as the last ferry was about to depart. Following the signs, we checked in at Coral Hotel. I'd expected the island's only hotel to be barely passable, but it turned out to be surprisingly upscale and elegant. Led by a little robot guide, we found our room – a garden-view room with great natural light. Outside, lush tropical plants; inside, fresh, refined décor... My mood lifted the moment I walked in.

In the evening, we grabbed a bite at Coral Bar, then strolled along the shore. The sun was setting, the gentle sea breeze was refreshingly cool, and the scenery at Lover's Bridge was especially enchanting – perhaps a sight exclusively for overnight guests.

The next day, as soon as the activities opened, we went to the lobby to draw our diving lot. My partner was super lucky and instantly picked the longest experience: the Luxury Circumnavigation Dive. After training and changing into wetsuits, we took a boat from the dock to the reception yacht, with scenic area staff on hand to answer our questions the whole time. Once geared up, we each had a professional instructor for one-on-one diving!

The Luxury Circumnavigation Dive has an exclusive dive site. Underwater, besides marine life and coral clusters, there's a huge shipwreck – I even saw a tank! I'm quite daring and adapt easily, so the instructor took me down past 15 meters. The water was crystal clear with high visibility, and schools of fish got up close and personal with us.

In the deep, silent blue waters off Wuzhizhou Island, Sanya, I experienced diving for the first time in my life. There was a bit of initial panic and an overwhelming sense of awe, but even more, the joy of pushing my limits.
