Bali Episode 5: Nusa Penida
Nusa Penida is a natural offshore island southeast of Bali, with untouched natural areas showcasing the extraordinary craftsmanship of nature. The Angel's Billabong and rock formations, shaped by centuries of wave erosion, offer travelers some of the most breathtaking scenes nature has to offer. These irreproducible natural wonders have also become precious moments that travelers long to capture. The island's four must-visit photo spots are not to be missed: Angel's Billabong, Kelingking Beach, Broken Beach, and Crystal Bay. Most travelers choose to depart from Bali and join a one-day tour, taking a round-trip boat to Nusa Penida. Angel's Billabong: Behind a sharp volcanic rock lies a natural infinity pool. The volcanic rock, eroded by relentless waves over time, has formed this unique pool-in-rock wonder. The pool's water is emerald green and clear, while beyond it lies the vast open sea, offering travelers a 360-degree perfect photo spot. Kelingking Beach: This is perhaps the best place in Bali to overlook the sea. The winding and towering cliffs, remote location, and azure waters that deepen from the shallows are enough to awe any traveler. Dense vegetation stretches from the hills all the way to the sea, and standing at the cliff's edge feels like owning the entire coastline. Broken Beach: Natural sea arches are now rare worldwide, and Broken Beach is one of them. Formed by volcanic tectonic movements, this wonder has created a natural seawater entrance at the cliff's edge, resembling an arch. Crystal Bay: The water at Crystal Bay is as crystal clear as its name suggests. It is the most famous diving spot on Nusa Penida and is usually the last stop on a one-day tour. A crescent-shaped beach with water that deepens gradually, from July to September each year, deep divers here have a chance to see the deep-sea giant Mola Mola (sunfish). Even if you don't want to get in the water, sunbathing on the beach, striking a pose on the sand, or just daydreaming are great options. After all, at a travel destination like Bali, which is mainly known for its cliffside sea views, such a vast and clear coastline is truly rare.
