December 18, 2023, Bali, Indonesia – Hilton (NYSE: HLT), a global leader in hospitality, today announced the official opening of Umana Bali, LXR Hotels & Resorts, marking the brand’s first hotel in Southeast Asia. As the newest addition to LXR Hotels & Resorts, the property extends the brand’s timeless spirit of self-discovery in one of the world’s most captivating destinations, delivering a new signature luxury experience that is both personal and deeply immersive.

Alan Watts, president of Hilton Asia Pacific, said: “LXR Hotels & Resorts presents tremendous opportunities for the growth of Hilton’s luxury portfolio in Asia Pacific. Following the brand’s successful debut in Kyoto, the arrival of this extraordinary LXR resort in Bali underscores our commitment to bringing acclaimed luxury brands to more inspiring destinations around the world. With its coveted location and distinctive positioning, Umana Bali will redefine the new direction of luxury travel in Bali.”

Umana Bali is developed by PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk and managed by Hilton, aiming to deliver a fresh travel experience on this island paradise. Johannes Suriadjaja, president director of PT Surya Semesta Internusa Tbk, said: “We are delighted to partner with Hilton to bring the first LXR hotel in Southeast Asia to Bali, a destination beloved by visitors from near and far, and to contribute to the growth of tourism in Indonesia and the region.”

Perched on the limestone cliffs of Ungasan at the southernmost tip of Bali, the resort commands endless, unobstructed ocean views. Its 72 meticulously designed villas cascade down the hillside in terraced formations, evoking the name “uma,” meaning ancient rice paddy.

Alexandra Jaritz, senior vice president of brand management, Asia Pacific, Hilton, said: “LXR properties are dedicated to offering thoughtfully crafted design, highly personalized service, and richly immersive local experiences. Umana Bali brings the brand’s philosophy to life through a collection of exceptional offerings, allowing guests to explore the local way of life with fresh eyes and enjoy an unparalleled travel experience.”

### A Foundation in Local Culture and Community

Inspired by the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana—harmony between the realms of nature, human society, and the spiritual world—LXR’s signature bespoke service and one-of-a-kind experiences are woven into a meaningful, contemporary setting. Through nature, handcrafted artisanal elements, and rejuvenating holistic wellness rituals, the resort fosters an authentic connection with the destination, creating vivid, true-to-place experiences crafted for today’s elite explorers seeking self-discovery.

Hilton deeply advocates responsible travel as a global mission, and Umana Bali places the local community and environment at its heart. Collaborating with skilled local artisans, the resort has created a sanctuary where luxury meets social responsibility. Materials such as Javanese marble and rattan are sourced locally, while exclusive artworks and eco-conscious objects—from amenity kits made of recycled banana-leaf paper and coconut-shell boxes to slippers woven with pandan and mendong natural fibers—reflect the island’s heritage.

### A Contemporary Take on Balinese Living

Designed by globally acclaimed design firm WATG | Wimberly Interiors (architecture, landscape, and interiors), the resort weaves Balinese legends, beliefs, and customs into every texture and space, capturing the vibrant art of living and the atmosphere of Bali. The design harmoniously brings together elements of ritual, community, and nature, inviting guests to experience Bali’s enduring themes of togetherness and respect. Contemporary sculptures depicting Balinese dancers are adorned with ancient coins once used for offerings and temple decorations, while a magnificent chandelier of metal and hand-blown glass suspended in the lobby is inspired by the signature fan-like gestures of the Legong Keraton, or court dance.

The villas at Umana Bali are spacious, luxurious, and utterly private—exceptional retreats in every sense. Starting at 403 square meters, each villa features a private infinity pool and an outdoor hot tub. The three-bedroom Umana Pool Villa, spanning up to 1,200 square meters, is an ideal choice for large family gatherings or multi-room stays. Resort facilities are outstanding, including a stunning contemporary chapel perched on a clifftop that sets a magical scene for sunset weddings. Flexible event spaces, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a vibrant kids’ club complete the offerings.

### Wellness and Rejuvenation

At the heart of Loma Spa lies a philosophy of wellness and inner realignment, blending personalized holistic ancient and modern therapies. The “Self” therapy helps recalibrate energy and build strength, while the “Body” therapy promotes emotional release through deep relaxation techniques. The signature Loma Spa therapy is a soothing, gemstone-infused treatment that revitalizes the body—an authentic Indonesian massage and a popular contemporary alternative therapy.

Loma Spa’s rich menu includes experiences for individuals and groups, from sound healing sessions for varying group sizes and Holotropic breathwork for self-exploration and mindful transformation to cold-water immersion that benefits cardiovascular, immune, and mental health, bringing a natural sense of euphoria and deep satisfaction.

Family-tailored wellness programs are also available, including yoga, sound healing, meditation, and specially designed treatments for children—from back balancing, scalp massages, and foot care to the “Calm Breath” therapy, which begins with breathing exercises, followed by body stretching and sound healing with Tibetan singing bowls. Guests can also enjoy true relaxation through sound meditation sessions and soul-blessing rituals either at Loma Spa or in the privacy of their own villa.

### A Curated Culinary Journey

To bring fresh, flavorful, health-conscious cuisine to every restaurant and bar, more than 80% of the resort’s ingredients are thoughtfully sourced from local farms, the property’s own hydroponic garden, and its vegetable plots. Many of the selected wines are produced from grapes grown on Bali, making every sip a tribute to the island’s vineyards.

Oliverra Cliff Restaurant takes guests on a Mediterranean culinary voyage, while Commune Restaurant presents refined Southeast Asian fare infused with local flavors, featuring an open kitchen with a rotisserie for the signature Umana favorite, Babi Guling. At Pad Pool Bar, sip crafted cocktails while drinking in mesmerizing Indian Ocean views. Mer Lounge, a serene marine-inspired retreat, invites guests to unwind and prepare their own light bites at the mini bar. Opening in April 2024, Uma Beach House will offer fresh Peruvian cuisine with Miami-inspired design, a seaside hideaway overlooking the crystal-clear turquoise waters of Melasti Beach and the majestic limestone cliffs.

### Delving into the Magic of Bali

Before guests even arrive, the Umana Bali team orchestrates every detail, from a customized minibar and floating breakfast in the villa to a dedicated curator who designs a personalized itinerary—ensuring the unparalleled personalized service for which LXR is renowned.

To delve deeper into Bali’s natural wonders, guests can embark on an exhilarating helicopter tour over the spectacular summit of Mount Batur, followed by a beachside bonfire barbecue. Stargaze with a local astronomer, craft traditional Indonesian kites with a master kite-maker, or connect with Balinese home cooks in a hands-on culinary class in a local family kitchen. An array of spiritual and wellness experiences—including purification, blessing, and celebration rituals, meditations, and conversations with temple priests and elders—creates an authentic and deeply meaningful connection with Bali.

Umana Bali has joined Hilton Honors, Hilton’s award-winning guest loyalty program that encompasses 22 exceptional brands.
