III. Visa on Arrival and Customs Process
Get off the plane – Visa on Arrival – Pass through customs – Collect luggage – Scan the customs declaration code – Arrival pickup area
Step 1: After getting off the plane, follow the crowd to the VOA (Visa on Arrival) hall; there are signs in Chinese.
Step 2: Arrive at the immigration hall; the left side is for on-site VOA processing, the right side is for e-VOA.
Step 3: At the customs counter, present your passport, boarding pass, and VOA, then provide fingerprint verification. Customs may ask routine questions, such as the purpose of your visit to Bali and the number of days you'll stay.
Step 4: Customs will give you an entry sticker; after passing through, go through the duty-free area to the baggage carousel to collect your luggage.
Step 5: If you haven't submitted a customs declaration in advance, scan the QR code to declare when collecting baggage.
Step 6: After picking up your luggage, follow the signs to the arrival pickup area. The entire process is complete.
IV. Important Notes
1. The VOA fee is 35 USD or 500,000 IDR. It's recommended to exchange cash in advance; the exchange rate at the airport is very high.
2. No photography is allowed in the immigration hall.
3. When applying for the VOA, customs may ask simple questions, such as the purpose of your trip and your itinerary. Being prepared will help speed up the process.
4. Download essential apps in advance: Google Maps, Google Translate, Gojek or Grab (ride-hailing apps).
V. Taboos in Bali
Friends, always remember to respect local customs~
1. Locals usually use their left hand only in the restroom; therefore, do not use your left hand to shake hands, touch food, or touch others.
2. Do not wear tank tops, short skirts, or shorts when entering temples; bottoms must cover the knees.
3. Do not touch anyone's head, even children's.
4. Bring medicine only for personal use; do not sell it.
5. Do not step on the small offering boxes placed in front of locals' doors.
6. Durian is not allowed in Bali hotels.
7. Do not enter temples during your menstrual period.
